Postmortem (Kay Scarpetta, #1)Postmortem by Patricia Daniels Cornwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Medical examiner Kay Scarpetta is at the forefront of uncovering clues in a murder of a suspected serial killer. Kay is juggling her personal life with her niece Lucy and a hidden relationship with a man she works with. As the murders become to come more frequently, Kay finds herself not only investigating but getting thrown under the bus to take the fall. With an unlikely ally she ends up discovering the truth behind who is doing the murders but will she be able to figure it in time to save herself and her career.

Highly entertaining. It is a bit dated in some sense with the way things were tolerated back then but shouldn’t have been. Kay is a strong woman who you find yourself compelled to understand. Interesting dynamics throughout the whole story. Edge of you seat thriller.
