Athica Lane (Carpino, #3)Athica Lane by Brynne Asher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Single dad Cam Montgomery has enough on his plate with raising his children and working two jobs. When he meets the little spitfire, Paige Carpino, he immediately recognizes her as the woman who accused him of spilling his drink n her.

Paige is watching her sisters kids for a week, she is also helping out with the neighbors kids while she is at it. Meeting face to face with Cam she wants her apology for his soda pop spill, she’s not going to get it though. After a rocky start Cam begins to realize he likes Paige a lot. Paige is falling hard for Cam, but does he have time to deal with a relationship? The kids love her, but Cam was burned by his ex and he is not sure he wants to go down that road again. Everything feels right with Paige though, can he take a chance at love again?

Delightful. I love love love this series. Paige is a busy bee and so warm you want to keep her. Loved Cam he is rough and to the point but with Paige he is tender and patient. I liked that the kids are a complete part of this story. You laugh and cry, another fantastic story from Brynne Asher.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

My name is Lily Snow. I am twenty-five years old, and despite being born with an unattractive face, I have never doubted who I am: smart, driven, and beautiful on the inside.

Until I met Maxwell Cole.

He’s handsome, excessively wealthy, and the owner of Cole Cosmetics. It’s been my dream to work for this man for as long as I can remember. The good news is he wants to hire me. The bad news is he wants me for all the wrong reasons. Ugly reasons.

In exchange, he’s offered me my dreams on a silver platter. The job. The title. A beautiful future. But this man is as messed up and ugly as they come on the inside. I’m not sure anyone can help him, and he just might take my heart down with him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt
“Lily Snow?” I heard a woman call my name.
I looked over at the slender, gorgeous redhead, not much older than me, wearing a fitted blue dress and strappy blue heels. Her smoky, mascara-caked eyes scanned the nearly empty lobby, looking right over my head.
“Hi. I’m Lily Snow.”
Her eyes fell on my face with a spark of shock she quickly tried to conceal. “You’re…Miss Snow?”
I gave her a quick nod.
“Oh,” she said stiffly. “Don’t you have lovely hair.”
Her comment was what I liked to call a “conscience clearer.” It was when someone realized they just acted like a coldhearted ass and then quickly tried to make it up to me with a compliment. Usually about my long, wavy blonde hair or my “cute little body.”
I stood from my chair and extended my hand. “Thanks. I’ll trade my hair for your shoes. Your Manolos are to die for.” They were a limited release made just for Oscar season. Very expensive.
My shoes, for the record, were Franco Sarto heels I’d found on clearance at The Rack, black and simple, just like my pencil skirt and blouse. I would’ve loved to wear something more expensive, but the job I’d been in—a one-year consulting project at B&H Cosmetics—was for the experience rather than a big paycheck. I could’ve done better, but I’d had my sights on C.C., and I knew Mr. Cole, the owner, worked at B&H right after college.
I’m on your heels, big man.
A little smile popped on the redhead’s face. “My boyfriend got them for me,” she said, doing a little pivot to show off the shoes. “He works for Babs Levine.”
Uh. Wow. Babs was the world’s top formal dress designer, who once worked for some of the biggest names in fashion before going out on her own. She practically owned the red carpet this last season.
“Well,” I smiled, “if you ever get tired of your boyfriend, I’m single.”
She laughed so loud her voice echoed off the sterile-looking walls of the lobby. “I don’t think so.”
I wasn’t sure if she’d meant she’d never give the guy up or that he’d never go for me in a million years.
Both. Definitely both. I didn’t take offense, though. I’d made the comment to break the ice, and it worked. She introduced herself as Keri and became all smiles and warm chatter on the elevator ride up. I liked her immediately.
Love vs. PayneLove vs. Payne by Z. Stefani
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Love’s and the Payne’s have been enemies for the past few generations. However when children Gia Love and Maddox Payne meet they have no clue about the feud. They had one perfect day in school before they were forced to continue their families war with another. One little thing they did not share was daring each other to do ridiculous things. As they grew up the dares grew worse and they became polar opposites. While Maddox was the popular jock, Gia was the stunning book worm who no one got close too. When one dare leads to intimacy they know they were meant for each other, but squabbling families are intent on keeping them apart.
I enjoyed this one. Wish it had been a bit longer but it was a good story. The families interference hurts Gia and Maddox and it is interesting to see how the fallout evolves. I liked Gia, she was a handful. If your looking for a fun just relax type of read this is one to pick up.
Burning Ember (Harbingers of Chaos, #1)Burning Ember by Darby Briar
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Ember left under mysterious circumstances and is on the run. After trying her best to survive, she is broken and considering making a decision that will change her path in the absolute worst way. When she befriends a lady who is the old lady to a biker with the Harbinger’s of Chaos MC she sees another way. She is terrified and questioning everything especially when she meets Maverick Gunn.
Ember reminds Maverick of his worst nightmare but when he gets a closer look and begins to see past her facade he sees she is something more than his ex. Ember has secrets though and everything could unravel now that she is finding a new kind of happiness.
This was a bit grittier, I grappled a bit with Maverick’s hatred and not sure if it was my mood but had a hard time with getting past that. I would say I probably would retry some day soon
Awakened (Soul Shifters #1)Awakened by Sennah Tate
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
When Gemma Fellings looses her job she decides to move and start over. She quickly befriends a woman who disappears and runs into her brother Carson Sanchez. Something strange is going on in town though and as Carson and Gemma work together to figure it out with his friends, secrets are unveiled that put everyone in danger.
Overall I liked this but there was a lot in the story that I wasn’t sure was needed. Carson and Gemma are an intriguing couple and I enjoyed seeing how everything unfolded.
Damaged and the Cobra (Damaged, #3)Damaged and the Cobra by Bijou Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Aaron Barnes has found his muse, Lark Foster. He first saw his muse at his best friends wedding only to have unsuccessfully be able to ask her out in the few times he has seen her since.
Lark has a crush on Aaron but has not mustered up the courage to talk to him. When she asks about getting her dismal tattoo fixed, she gets her opportunity. Aaron and Lark are together from the minute she goes out with him, however Lark’s step-father wont allow it. Aaron doesn’t want to sneak around and when it comes down to choosing family or Aaron, Lark makes a decision that will change her life forever.
Up there in favorite books in the series. Aaron was not quite the he-man as some of the other and I enjoyed that. He is not part of Coopers MC, more just a best friend. All the favorites are in the series as well. Enjoyable story.
