Still reeling from the death of her father, Alexandria hopes to find both independence and reprieve from her grief by heading off to college. However, life throws her a serious curveball when she discovers that her roommate isn’t quite the person she had imagined.
Smoking, tattoos, and street racing for fast cash are Elijah’s only interests. A harsh life has made him apathetic and indifferent, until Alexandria enters his life. When their paths cross, turmoil abounds.
An inevitable encounter, an undeniable attraction, and an unexpected chance at love-will it be enough?

One sentence teaser:
- I’m fighting like hell because you’re everything to me.
- You were always the one I wanted. My heart was already set on you from the moment we met. I just didn’t know it.
3. My love for you is bigger than the moon, bigger than the universe, and I can’t imagine anything bigger than my love for you
4. I don’t care. He can kick my ass a thousand times. I’m not letting you go. No fucking way. You’re mine.”
From Alexandria’s point of view
“Alex,” he called softly with a smooth, seductive tone. At least that is how it rang in my ears.
Slowly gazing up, I jerked back and hit the back part of the sofa when I saw his face far too close to mine. With his knees bent, his hands placed on either side of the sofa cushion, near my thighs. My heart went into overdrive as my eyes outlined his muscular biceps, up to his shoulder, his dark stubbles, and then…bam! My eyes were deadlocked on his.
Frozen in place, I was mesmerized. His piercing brown eyes sucked me in. I wanted to trace his thick brows with the tips of my fingers, down to the perfect base of his nose, around his high check bones, and across his smooth, kissable lips. Swallowing a nervous gulp, feeling little tremors rush through every part of me, I swear, I felt like I was shrinking…dissolving into the sofa…melting into his scent. Though I had expected him to smell like cigarettes being this close to him, he actually smelled nice—minty.
Holding me captive with that look, I knew at that moment, he would be my fantasy, the one I would dream about in bed—the bad boy with the tattoos, with that arrogant attitude. The heartbreaker…if only he drove a motorcycle and wore a leather jacket, he would be the complete badass package.
From Elijah’s point of view
Nolan stood up as if he’d been bitten on his ass, liquid dripping down his head. It mostly soaked into his T-shirt, and what hadn’t, pooled around his feet. When he curled his fingers into a tight fist, I got up too, ready to step in. Surrounded by students, I knew he wouldn’t dare hit her, but regardless, Nolan was unpredictable.
Thankfully, he just growled and wiped himself with the napkins his friends gave him. “What are you looking at?” he shouted to the students at the nearby tables, then sat back down. Everyone around cowardly turned away. Lexy, on the other hand, was smiling behind the counter. As of right now, Alex was on my best friend list. After I let out a hearty laugh, I threw my trash away, turned my cap back the way it was, and headed toward Nolan’s table.
“Just get out of the shower, Nolan?”
Nolan pushed back his chair so fast that it slid across the floor. Putting his face right in front of mine, he gritted his teeth. “I hope I get to race you next time, pretty boy. I’m going to break your record.”
“Yeah, that’s what they all say. As far as the record book shows, I’m still number one. And next time I see you put your hands on Alex, I’ll break every one of your fingers.”
It took all four of his friends to stop him from coming after me. As he cursed and flailed his arms, I casually strutted toward the door. Just before I exited, knowing his eyes were still on me and fuming with rage, I flipped him my favorite finger; the same finger I showed him many times before. I’m almost certain God created the middle finger longer on purpose, for assholes like him.
From Elijah’s point of view
On our way down, I managed to support her head and bent my knees in an effort not to crush her. That didn’t feel good to my knees or my hands at all. Since Alex didn’t move a muscle, I didn’t know how much of my weight landed on her, or if she was hurt. All I felt now was my upper body touching hers.
“Alex, you okay? Did I hurt you?” I murmured, looking at her.
She didn’t answer. Instead, her shocked eyes stared back at me. Those angelic blue eyes sucked me in so deep, I became lost in them. I was hypnotized, spellbound by her beauty and the eyes that held so much mystery, making me want to get to know her.
When her eyes shifted to my lips, I could feel my dick straining against my pants. Cool small breaths escaped her mouth into mine, and I swallowed them up—every single breath. Her body entangled in my arms, her breath became ragged. Her chest rose and fell quickly, and mine was doing the same. I’d like to think I was the cause of her rapid breathing. In that moment, I lost all sense of time…space…and reality.
I don’t know how long we were connected like that, but I almost lost my self-control when my lips headed towards hers as if they had a mind of their own. Fuck! I wanted to kiss her. We were in another world and everyone around us disappeared, but then, a part of my conscience reminded me that she was Jimmy’s cousin. God I really hated that voice right now!
Thank goodness, Seth broke our link. “You guys okay? And would you stop molesting her on the ice?”
I rolled my eyes at him. “Shut up and help me. I hurt my knees,” I said out loud, so the crowd around us could hear me. I had to make an excuse as to why I stayed on top of her so long, when I could have gotten up.
From Alexandria’s point of view
Never taking his eyes off me, he rested his hand on my shoulder, and then gingerly slid down my arm, giving me pleasurable tingles…EVERYWHERE. Afraid to move the tiniest of my muscles, I felt locked in place. I was enjoying him far too much. I didn’t want it to end. When he finally reached my hand, he pulled it up to his mouth and made the most pleasurable groan I’ve ever heard.
Looking exhausted and dazed, he shifted his eyes to the cookie in my hand, and mumbled slowly, “I think I’ll have that cookie now.”
Nothing registered until I saw his lips part, and my fingers disappeared in his mouth. Oh. My. GOD! My pulse skyrocketed, and I whimpered from the warmth of his tongue and the sensation that shot up my arm. My fingers were very wet sliding out of his mouth. I even felt the feather-light graze of his teeth; and I could swear every single muscle in my body became limp.
His jaw worked quickly, chewing. It was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. He made eating a cookie SO hot. After he swallowed, he turned the other way, picked up my cup of milk, and chugged down whatever was left.
Looking like he couldn’t believe he just drank milk, he placed the cup down. “Good night, Alex. Don’t ever go racing without me,” he ordered, and then he left.
What just happened? Milk and cookies will never be the same for me…EVER.
From Elijah’s point of view
What possessed me to do what I did next was beyond my control. I had totally lost all my willpower. Being in this position and with no one around, I let my selfish need for her take over. The need I had the minute I laid my eyes on her. I wanted her and I was going to have her.
“Alex,” I murmured. “I’m going to taste you now.”
I didn’t let her respond. After I heard what sounded like a whimper, I sucked on the wet spot on her neck that was splattered with milk. That was just the beginning. I couldn’t stop there. While I licked my way down, my hand slipped underneath her T-shirt and headed toward her breast. She arched her back and let out a sexy little moan that made me even more excited.
After pulling up her T-shirt to expose her breast, my tongue circled around it, and I sucked and teased her nipple until she felt the need to take a fist full of my hair. I knew I was driving her insane. Thinking she would push away, and knowing I should end this before it went too far, I started to slow down. But when Alex started to spread her legs open for me—Holy shit! There was no way in hell I could control it now.
From Alexandria’s point of view.
“Okay.” Elijah finally looked up, matching his eyes to mine, searching, wanting to read my expression. Whatever he saw, he looked satisfied. “Great.” He paused. “We’re okay?” He paused once more for my answer, giving me a crooked grin.
“Yup,” I said it as if I meant it.
“I’m going to give you a hug now since friends hug after they make up.”
Suddenly, he embraced me before I had time to register what he had said. I sucked in air when my body pressed against his. God he felt so good. I needed him off me. But when he pressed his face into my hair, around the space of my neck, I was reminded of that night and pleasurable heat infused through every part of me. My heart hammered faster and the arms that dangled down by my sides refused to push him away, no matter what my mind told them to do.
“I think the gang is here, Freckles,” he murmured in my ear, sending electric shivers through me again.
Next thing I knew, he released me. The cold air took his space when he headed out the door without looking back. As for me, I stared at the wall to get a hold of myself.
Only three months ago, Alexandria lost her father and it shook her life to the core. Now Alexandria is ready to start college and hopes the sorrow that constantly follows her around will lesson. Her cousin setup her place to live, filling in where he used to be and Alexandra is excited about the new start. Of course her cousin never told her that Ellie was actually Elijah and he is tattooed, smoking, and everything a fantasy man should be.
Elijah doesn’t date, he has been burnt once before and has no plans in reliving again. When he finds out Alex is really Alexandria, everything changes. Problem is Alex is too good for him and she is dating someone from home. As the roommates become friends, both are wishing for something more but neither are willing to discuss the nature of their feelings.
I loved this book, it was sweet, sad, romantic, and mesmerizing. Both Alex and Elijah are still healing and there is a level of intimacy with that they share and no one else can. I thought the pacing was perfect and was enchanted throughout.
