Model Student (Oddball #1)Model Student by C.J. Washington

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bow has everything a girl could possibly want, she is a famous supermodel, has money and could do whatever she would like. Bow though craves normalcy and after she loses her father she comes up with a plan to achieve it. With a slight disguise, Bow enrolls in College in Texas.

Asher has had it with the fakers on campus, the women who are dolled up and easy prey for the taking. When he is paired up with Bow in a marketing class, he doesn’t know quite what to think until she tells him off. The girl dresses like a bag lady, up close is quite pretty but he cant seem to get a good read on her. Asher does not date but the more he gets to know Bow the more he is thinking she is his one. What will he do when he finds out who she really is?

A few things were a little over much in the story but overall I liked it. Bow is really sweet and she finds a group who accepts her, no facades. The oddballs swarm around her protecting her and while Asher feels there is a reason, he is waiting for Bow to set the pace. If you like model and hottie stories, this is one to pick up.

Stefan by V.A. Dold Review and Spotlight of the Le Beau Brothers Series

lebeau

BLURB:   El is a beautiful, successful, plus sized woman suffering from a debilitating humiliation that has left her hating all handsome, wealthy men exactly like Stefan Le Beau. Unfortunately for Le Beau, she’s known him since she was sixteen and was totally snubbed by him. To her, he’s a hound dog and a man-whore.

Stefan is a playboy to the extreme with one hard and fast rule: date a woman only once, take her to bed, and be gone before morning.

Until El.

Stefan’s dream of finding his mate comes true when he bids two hundred thousand dollars to win a date with El at Simon’s charity ball. Money well spent in his opinion.

Now, if she would only talk to him. Or look at him. Or touch him, or…like him.

Can Stefan convince El he’s a reformed man?

Can El learn to trust a man who is the epitome of what she avoids and could shatter her heart?

It will require drastic, strategic measures from the entire family to make this mating happen.

BIO:  V.A.Dold is the bestselling author of the Le Beau Brothers series, New Orleans wolf shifter novels. A graduate of Saint Cloud University, she majored in marketing. Prior to becoming a full time writer, she was a publicist to the authors, owning Innovative Online Book Tours and ARC Author & Reader Con’s (ARC NOLA) (ARC Phoenix). Still is. The companies mesh so well together, much like PB&J.
Her idea of absolute heaven is a day in the French Quarter filled with nothing but her computer, her coffee mug and the Brothers, of course.
A Minnesota native with her heart lost to Louisiana, she has a penchant for titillating tales featuring sexy men and strong women. When she’s not writing, she’s probably taking in a movie, reading or traveling.
Her earliest reading memories are from grade school. She had a major fixation with horses, and the Black Stallion was a favorite. Then junior high came along and teenage hormones kicked in. It became all about the Harlequin Romances. She has been hooked on romances ever since.

Stefan: Le Beau Brothers: New Orleans Billionaire Wolf Shifters with plus sized BBW for mates (Le Beau Series Book 3)

Stefan: Le Beau Brothers: New Orleans Billionaire Wolf Shifters with plus sized BBW for mates by V.A. Dold
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

El is a plus sized woman who had a traumatic event that left her untrusting when it comes to affluent men. Stefan Le Beau has been dreaming of his mate and although she seems familiar he can’t figure out who she is. When he wins El at a charity auction, he is thrilled to come face to face with his mate.

El though is not as eager, she believes Stefan is a playboy who is only looking for one thing. As Stefan tries to earn El’s trust and delicately convince her she is his mate and he would never stray, it seems like an uphill battle. Stefan is questioning if he will ever be able to break through with his mate?

Another exceptional read from V.A. Dold. This is a fantastic shifter series. Stefan had a bit of a reputation as a one and done type of man and it comes back to haunt him with El. I thought El was in some ways very confident but in another she is on really shaky ground and it’s easier to push away than confront the issue. The next book looks to be excellent.

Excerpt

Forty–five minutes later, the auction was finally over. She could finally go home. Her feet were swollen and something was doing a tap dance on the inside of her skull. The Tylenol she had taken fifteen minutes ago hadn’t kicked in yet.

She considered her options as she rubbed the edge of her sole, should I chance taking these shoes off? Crap, I might not get them back on. Then what? Go bare foot in this gown?

That wouldn’t be embarrassing, not at all.

El stood and limped to the door leading to the ballroom. She groaned as she looked at the crowd she would have to walk through to get to her truck.

This was going to be two hundred thousand times worse than a walk of shame.

She giggled at her bad joke. Yeah, she was losing it.

“What’s so funny?”

The deep timber of his drawl had no business sending her pulse racing. She waited for a panic attack to kick in, but her body remained calm.

“Nothing.” She squared off with Stefan. “Were you dropped on your head as a child?”

The smell of fresh leather surrounded her. She took a deep breath wondering once again where it was coming from.

He frowned. “No.”

She cocked her head and arched a brow at him.

“Is there a history of insanity in your family?”

“No.” He scowled. “What are you getting at?”

“No one in his right mind would bid two hundred thousand dollars. That leaves one conclusion, you’re insane.”

“Oh, I’m insane all right. Insane for you.”

“Right. Go fishing with those lines somewhere else, this woman isn’t biting.”

“Oh, cher,” he laid his hand across his heart, “you wound me.”

“Shut up, Le Beau.” She tried to push past him but he didn’t budge. “Please move out of the way.”

From the ballroom, the band began to play a romantic waltz. Her father’s favorite song–the one he always insisted she dance with him to. How odd.

He presented his hand to her. “I do believe they’re playing our song.”

She looked at his hand suspiciously. “What are you doing now?”

“I’m asking the single woman I won at the auction to dance. That is my right as the winner.” He grinned.

She stepped back and crossed her arms. “You’re kidding, right?”

“I’ve never been more serious, I assure you. Now, may I have this dance?” His hand remained extended as he waited for her response.

She eyed the hand like it might bite. “Fine. I suppose I have to.”

Stefan led her to the dance floor and took her into his arms. She was perfect. His wolf howled in triumph. Now if he could only get her to actually like him.

Meet Louis Bruel

He’s a dirty talker….

dirty talker

excerpt

“Ninety-five days.
That’s how long it’s been since I last had sex with my husband. I shouldn’t be sad or pity myself, right? I live the life! I have a great man who adores and loves me—or did once. Louis works incredibly hard. He has built up his New York-based real estate development firm from nothing to a billion dollar company in less than fifteen years.
We have two beautiful kids: Rose, who just turned eight two weeks ago; and Eric, who’s almost four. I gave up running an event planning company with my sister to stay home and be there for the kids and Louis. My husband wanted me to always be available for him.
We live in New York City the majority of the year. Our Upper East Side townhouse was once an embassy and takes up a good half of a city block. If I walk a few feet to the right, I’d be in Central Park, and if I take a few steps to the left, I’d be on Madison Avenue, the shopping mecca for the rich and famous.
I have need for nothing. I have a live-in nanny, a housekeeper, a cook, a driver, a masseuse, and a trainer. However, I would give it all up to have my husband want me like he once did. I’m twenty-nine years old but I feel like I’m eighty. You couldn’t tell I suffer from depression and self-loathing by looking at me. On the outside, I’m glowing and happy. I’m skinny thanks to André, my personal trainer. I look twenty-one thanks to Botox and my mom, who’s a dermatologist and keeps my skin looking young and flawless. Bergdorf Goodman keeps me dressed like a movie star and yet neither Hermès nor Van Cleef can put a genuine smile on my face these days
Some who don’t know me would say Emily Bruel is just another spoiled little rich bitch. Well, that’s why I keep my mouth shut. I don’t complain. I take it as it comes and yes, I thank my lucky stars. But I’m starting to think that if I keep going at this pace, I’ll lose the love of my life.
My husband is the one and only Louis Bruel. He was once deemed New York’s most eligible bachelor; now they call him “The Baron of New York Real Estate.” He, like the rest of the world, seems to be oblivious to my dissatisfaction with our love life. He works fourteen-hour days and comes home to the picture perfect family he created. He has provided lavishly for us, and as I already mentioned, we need and want for nothing. Except, of course, the need I have for him to stop ignoring my existence.
When we first met, I was an eighteen-year-old nobody. He was almost thirty years old and very much a somebody. How could I not fall madly in love with the wonderful Louis Bruel all those years ago? Lord knows, every woman who sets eyes upon him still does! Why should I be any different? Besides his obvious sexy good looks, he has this animal magnetism, a kind of swagger that attracts anything in its path. I will never forget that magical night eleven years ago when I first laid eyes on Mr. Louis Bruel. I can see it all play out from the very start. If I close my eyes and rewind, it seems like yesterday.”

Cover Reveal: Red by Jacqueline Noir

30 Friday Jan 2015

Designed By: MAE Cover Designs
The first time those haunting gray eyes pinned her, they’d stared at her from the face of a creature that was supposed to only be a legend. A cliché.

When Sadie VonRouge moves to Casterton, Oregon to live with her aunt, she expected a sleepy little town; the perfect backdrop for her to start piecing back together her life. She wants nothing more than a normal start to her freshman year of college.

Normal is the last thing she’s going to get.

The night she was attacked, it’d been a wolf that chased her down. A wolf that tackled her to the ground. A wolf that began sniffing her. Then she’d opened her eyes, and she’d come face-to-face with him.

But she was delusional. She knew this. There’d been no man.

At least, that’s what she tells herself over and over, even while fighting back the memory of how sinfully gorgeous the man had been, or how viciously he’d growled out that one word:

Mine.

Sadie doesn’t know what is happening to her, or why she’s beginning to exhibit odd symptoms after the attack. All she knows is that her world has been drastically changed. She has no idea how much, or how serious that man’s claim was. Not until he comes back into her life, demanding the one thing that he owns above anything else.

Her.

Thrust into a new world, Sadie is going to be forced to deal with a reality she never expected.

And a dominating, scary, dangerous male that might just not give her any choice but to accept her new life . . . and the fact that he comes along with it.

“You belong to me. I own you. Forever.”

Cover Reveal: Losing Her by Mariah Dietz

Title: Losing Her (His #2)

Author: Mariah Dietz

Release Date: March 1

Find on Goodreads

“I loved her and she left. Maybe I wasn’t enough. Maybe I’ll never be enough.” I’ve been thinking these words since before we even got together.

Everything is new. The old no longer has a place here. Physical items are easy to replace. I’m constantly battling the ones that aren’t.

Every thought and memory I have is stained.

By you.

You weren’t even there for half of them.

How is she still present even though she left?

I can do this. I’m going to survive losing her.

*** This is the second book of the His Series, and it DOES end with a cliffhanger. The final book of the His Series, Finding Me, will release June 1, 2015***

“Dude, you’ve got to get up.” Jameson sighs as I pull the pillow back over my head. I don’t even know what day it is anymore. I don’t care.

What adds salt to my wounds is the fact that the world keeps turning. People continue waking up and going about their day. The sun rises and sets. I hear kids laugh and play, neighbors greet one another, and birds sing, and all the while I wonder how? How does the entire world appear to be surviving this nightmare of losing her?

****

Hank comes to visit in June. I still haven’t heard from Ace, and yet I’m still staying at my mom’s. I can’t leave. I can’t go back to that house. I’d moved rooms shortly after she left, and now reside in the guest room on the main floor. It’s better this way. There aren’t any pictures of her in here or random memories, like the one of her sitting on my bean bag chair when I was sick last summer. I also don’t have to face the window that looks out onto hers.

Hank knows that I know mom sent for him, hoping that he’d be able to “help” me. She of all people should know that having Hank around isn’t going to help me. He’s fucking married to the love of his life; he doesn’t have a fucking clue about the shit that I’m going through.

Of all things, Hank wants to go camping. I’m sure he thinks that getting away will help. He doesn’t understand that moving rooms has helped me realize I could go to Antarctica, and things wouldn’t change; the distance isn’t going to make the pain any less.

When we get camp set up, Hank opens a cooler and passes me a beer with a giant, shit-eating grin, like we’ve just overcome a huge hurdle. Deciding that I shouldn’t rain on his little douchebag tea party quite yet, I accept the beer with merely a grimace before taking a long swig. Before long, that single swig becomes a chug, and then a guzzle as I consume more alcohol than what three people probably should.

I sit by the fire and close my eyes. My mind automatically reaches back into that locked and forbidden drawer to pull out the image of Ace, striving to recall the sound of her laugh, the feel of her touch. It brings me back to our camping trip last September, when Jameson announced that was what he wanted to do for his birthday.

Mariah Dietz lives in Eastern Washington with her husband and two sons that are the axis of her crazy and wonderful world.

Mariah grew up in a tiny town outside of Portland, Oregon, where she spent the majority of her time immersed in the pages of books that she both read and created.

She has a love for all things that include her sons, good coffee, books, travel, and dark chocolate. She also has a deep passion for the stories she writes, and hopes readers enjoy the journeys she takes them on, as much as she loves creating them.

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | iTunes

“I guess we know the flavor of the week,” a female voice says from behind me, causing several others with her to laugh.

I know they’re talking about me. They’re always talking about me. It’s been this way since I was in seventh grade, but I’ve made it my mission to ignore it.

“She certainly gets around,” another voice chimes in.

Cole is sitting to my left, Haden to my right and both guys are staring at the field, but neither is paying attention to the game. I watch out of my peripheral as Haden’s forearm muscles tense and relax while Cole bites his lip. They are intently focused on the words being thrown at me, but keep quiet for the time being.

“She must be good because they all stick around,” a guy’s voice states in salacious tone that makes me nauseous.

I don’t wait for another barb to be hurled my way, even though I know it’s coming. I throw my arm around Haden and whisper something in his ear before kissing his cheek then turning to do the same to Cole. I lean forward to see Joey, who is next to Cole and give him a wink, “I’ll get you later, Baby.”

He shakes his head and laughs, “Why must you stir the pot?”

Haden smiles – proud of my display – and it pushes me on.

I turn to look at the three classmates who have stopped chattering long enough to watch my little show, jaws hanging open. I shrug my shoulders, and answer Joey, “I’m just giving them what they want.”

One of the girls, Kasey, looks at me and raises a brow, “And what about Braxton?”

I glance over to Cole who’s listening to everything, but is still watching the game. He smirks, as if he knows what’s coming and a smile of my own begins to break.

They are gawking at me when I turn and wet my lips before winking at the girls.

“If he wins, we all win,” I say huskily.

“Touchdown!” The announcer yells and the crowd jumps to their feet to celebrate. All but the three jerks behind me.

T.K. Rapp is a Texas girl born and raised. She earned a B.A. in Journalism from Texas A&M and it was there that she met the love of her life. He had a contract with the U.S. Navy that would take them across both coasts, and ultimately land them back home in Texas.

Upon finally settling in Texas, T.K. worked as a graphic designer and photographer for the family business that her mom started years earlier. She was able to infuse her creativity and passion, into something she enjoyed, but something was still missing. There was a voice in the back of her head that told her to write, so write, she did. And, somewhere on an external hard drive, are several stories she started and never finished.

Now at home, raising her two daughters, T.K. has more time to do the things she loves, which includes photography and writing. When she’s not doing one of those, she can be found with her family, which keeps her busy. She enjoys watching her kids in their various sporting activities (i.e. doing the soccer mom thing), having Sunday breakfast at her parent’s house, singing out loud and out of key or dancing like a fool. She loves raunchy humor, gossip blogs and a good book.

Ember’s Secret by Catherine Peace

27 Tuesday Jan 2015

Blurb
Ember only wants two things out of life: to be reunited with her sisters, and to see people come back to her café. Catering to people she never sees again, she experiences a loneliness that can’t be filled. As one of the last Whakamanu—a descendant of the Maori bird-god Tane—she has to hold on to the secrets of her tribe. Family first.
Gourmet TV personality Austin Garten, host of the popular show Back Road Eats, needs more in his life than Breadbasket America grilling. He’s tired of the safe routes, the easy and dependable foods that the Network loves to display. When his RV breaks down in Wyoming, and he learns about Kai, a Maori restaurant outside of Casper, his interest is piqued. Once he meets the proprietor, he realizes he’s wants more than just her food. He wants her.
Ember isn’t too sure. The Solstice, the Maori New Year, is fast approaching, and with the heat in her kitchen ratcheting up, she knows she can’t keep her secret for much longer. But will Austin be able to accept her? Or will her secret drive them apart?
Excerpt
The bell dinged and broke Ember from her morose thoughts. Plastering on her best please-buy-my-food-and-come-back smile, she smoothed the front of her apron. Three people sat clustered at a table near the door, all hunched over the menus and talking quietly. She always hated interrupting, but she had a job to do. “Hi, I’m Ember. Can I help you?”

The trio looked up, and she had to catch her breath. These weren’t her usual customers; by now, she’d learned exactly the kind of people who came into her restaurant, and she wondered what had happened to bring these three in.

Besides, men as attractive as the one staring a hole through her did not show up here. Ever.
“Actually,” he said, “I’m really intrigued by the menu. What would you recommend?”

Despite herself, she grinned. Until now, she’d been cooking Maori food in the hope that her sisters would come home. Now someone wanted her opinion? “How hungry are you?”

“Very.”

An unexpected heat zipped through her chest. Of course, he had to be gorgeous, with sun-kissed, wavy blond hair; cheekbones that could cut glass; and the bluest eyes she’d ever seen on another person. Approachable, but still… Gorgeous. “I’d go with the stew, then.”

“Sounds perfect.”

She took the rest of their orders and disappeared into the kitchen for a few minutes before grabbing their drinks. He’s a cute customer. That’s all. Though she’d met attractive men in the café before, usually they were with their girlfriends or wives or college drinking buddies, but they had come in. And a few men in Casper had caught her fancy. Her lifestyle hadn’t prevented her making a physical connection, just…. She didn’t believe in soul mates or any of that romantic nonsense. Still, something stirred in her that never had before, like her soul finally had a purpose.
Breathing deeply, she returned to the front and poured two sodas and an iced tea. When she dropped them off at the table, he smiled at her in a way that was far more than polite, almost seductive.  “I like your restaurant. Whatever you’ve got cooking back there smells amazing. What is it?”

“Lamb,” she replied. “It’s kawakawa-encrusted.”

He quirked up his eyebrow. “I’ve never had kawakawa.”

“It’s very peppery. Gives the lamb a beautiful flavor. I could bring some out for you.” Never before had she offered that, but then again, no one had ever asked.

With a grin, he said, “I would love that.”

“I’ll be right back.” Giddy, she returned to the kitchen. Someone wanted to learn about her food! She wanted to skip or dance back to the kitchen. When she opened the oven, the full scent of the lamb enveloped her, and she breathed it in, calming herself down. Who was this man? Did he love food as much as she did? She didn’t want to seem rude, but she wanted to find out everything she could about him. Starting with his name.

Review

Austin Garten would ordinarily say he has it all, as a tv host to a food show that has him traveling all over sampling foods and entertaining viewers with his knowledge and take on the culinary delights. However, Austin could say sometimes it does become redundant and when the RV breaks down he and the crew ends up finding a Maori restaurant that he cant seem to stay away from. The owner Ember is entrancing and Austin is definitely intrigued by the stunning chef, but there is a sadness about her he can’t seem to put his finger on.

Ember has a secret and she begins to fall for Austin she knows inevitably she will have to reveal it. Will Austin be able to accept her or walk out of her life?

Enchanting story. The descriptions of the food had me wanting to recreate the dish and sample everything. I liked that their was an initial shyness between Austin and Ember, the flow of the story was perfect. Great book, look forward to more from this author.

She graduated in 2008 from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in English and is still chasing the dream of being super rich and famous, mostly so she can sit around in her PJs all day and write stories. When not being a slave to the people in her head, she’s a slave to two adorable dogs.

Mature Young Adult

 Release: December 2, 2014

To Pre-order: Amazon | Google Play | Smashwords

Cole Porter knows his home life isn’t ideal, but when a situation arises and he’s forced to pack up and move on, he realizes it’s better to be in a position where you understand the ins and outs rather than to be tossed into the unknown.

Emory Montgomery is as close to perfect as she can possibly be—good grades, beautiful, poised, popular—but having it all isn’t always enough. Perfect has its drawbacks, and even the most flawless people crack under its pressure.

There are people who come into our lives for a reason, when everything else is shattered, burned, and bruised. Sometimes their purpose is clear, but often the smoke and the brokenness conceal the light.

THE DAMNED can be read as a stand-alone novel.

Review

Cole Porter and Emory Montgomery are both from different walks of life, couldn’t have had more of a different upbringing, but both have something in common, both are broken.

Emory has had to live this false life in a tightly wrapped shell, she is supposed to be the perfect daughter, student, person but it all is about to break. Cole has lived with a woman who knows nothing about being a parent, often left on his own and holding about the demons that haunt him. Together they find something in common, a thread that has them leaning on each other. Both want a happiness but both have to come to terms about what is standing in their way.

This story has you twisted in knots, two characters you desperately want to pull into a hug. A journey about two people who easily could be lost but have found something that keeps them going. Both had realistic issues, haunting in some ways and inspirational in others. Great book.
