Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1)Cinder by Marissa Meyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Linh Cinder was adopted by her father who has perished, but her stepmother and two step sisters who typically treat her with disdain. Cinder has a booth at the market where she repairs bots, droids, anything mechanical. but when another fall ill at the market with the plague, her life pivots again. She finds herself being sought out by Prince Kai who needs his android repaired and after seeking all avenues he asks Cinder for help. There is banter and Cinder finds herself enjoying Kai’s company but could he really be interested in her? She is a cyborg and after her sister falls ill she begins to unravel secrets about her past that could destroy everything she knows. With a ball on the horizon and a war pending with the Queen Levana who puts on an air of disdain to everyone she meets but there is so much more to the Queen then anyone could imagine.

This was wonderful. I had put off reading this one because I wanted to savor the story and this exceeded all expectations I had. Cinder is a wonderfully unique character and I wanted more. I thought the way this author wrote this story was breathtaking. You can visualize every moment of this book and I so hope this becomes a series or movie. Exceptional.

Nikolai (The Volkov Empire, #2)Nikolai by Crystal Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikolai Volkov has been groomed to take over his father’s role in the Volkov Empire since he was young. He still has nightmares about the way he was entered into the world though. Now that he has reconnected with his half brother though he juggles his time between his duty to his father and his running of his construction business. What he did not expect was to feel extremely protective of his secretary Leah Winters. She is a bright spot in a dark world for him and he knows she is it for him. He takes his time knowing she needs it and to build trust. Can he protect her from the threat within though?

I was waiting for this book and to see how Nikolai and Leah would play out and it exceeded my expectations. I could not put this one down. Nikolai is now one of my favorite characters by these authors. Excellent.

Review: Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Red Rising (Red Rising, #1)Red Rising by Pierce Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Darrow is considered part of the Reds, each person born on Mars is stationed by color and by what they have to offer. Red is the bottom of the of the different colors. When a major event happens that changes the course of his life, Darrow has a chance to get revenge. Everything Darrow thought he knew is about to be shattered and Darrow will play a role he never expected.

There is so much to this story that I don’t want to give too much away. I thought this was exceptional. Yes there are similarities to Hunger Games but I thought this had a whole different aspect to it that was more suspenseful because Darrow has a huge burden on this shoulders to accomplish the impossible. Excellent.

It Wasn't Me (KPD Motorcycle Patrol, #2)It Wasn’t Me by Lani Lynn Vale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Piper Mackenzie is returning home after her tour and in order to get there she has to fly. Her anxiety is already heightened but when she sees Jonah Crew working on the plane she is hoping her trip doesn’t become the next installation of Final Destination. When the ride turns turbulent she finds herself sitting next to Jonah. As if fate was setting their course they both end up in Vegas together and married. Can a wild night lead to happily ever after?

I was curious about Jonah when I read the first book and this exceeded expectations. I thought that Piper and Jonah were perfect together. You were not sure what had Jonah so curt in general but with Piper he has a definite softer side.

The Champ by Jordan Silver

The Champ (Bad Boys, #5)The Champ by Jordan Silver
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

UFC champ Wyatt Hunter knows he can have any woman he wants, but when he sees Traci Starr from across the room at a bar he knows she is something different. Traci has no clue who he is and is not sure she wants to. Wyatt stakes his claim immediately on Traci, he takes the time for Traci to get to know him but everything is rushed when it appears she has a stalker. Wyatt has a big fight coming up and he wants to keep Traci safe as well as have his ring on her finger. Now he just has to get Traci to agree.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one, I thought it was a tad bit different for a Jordan Silver book. Liked Wyatt, he is caveman in his own way but he really tries to let Traci set the pace, at least for a little bit. Traci is adorable, liked her even if she was a bit naive.

Strip You Bare (The Deacons of Bourbon Street, #4)Strip You Bare by Maisey Yates
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Micah Carpenter hates every moment he is in New Orleans, his only pause to stay is a promise to his brotherhood to help find his former President’s murder. As one of the Deacons of Bourbon Street MC they were once on top and now quickly are taking back what is there. He didn’t expect for Sarah Delacroix to be a distraction, a socialite who could cut diamonds with her veiled retorts.

Sarah never felt intrigued by a man like she is with Micah, he is walking bad boy. He calls her on her bluffs and despite him being everything she should not want, she does. Micah makes no bones about wanting Sarah, but he is not looking for permanence, he has a job to do and she is a stunning distraction. He had not expected Sarah to challenge him like no other woman, but he plans to walk away but can he?

The fourth book in the Deacons of Bourbon Street. Out of all the stories I was most excited abut Micah’s, he has been a bit of a mystery and I loved how this story unfolded. I liked Sarah felt she was a perfect match for Micah. Another excellent addition to this series.

Fighting Dirty (Worth the Fight, #5)Fighting Dirty by Sidney Halston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Enzo Silva is infatuated with quirky tiny multi colored hair and full of sass, Jamie Lynn Calhoun. Jamie Lynn is a woman who wears many different hats and Enzo is trying to crack through and get hr to go out on a date with him.

Jamie Lynn is attracted to Enzo, but he is everything she is not. He has a stuffy exterior with his suits and glasses. When Jamie Lynn relents and accepts a date with Enzo, she navigates it and Enzo holds on for the ride. For as much as Jamie Lynn is complex, Enzo has his own desires and together they find themselves building something. However, others are not exactly happy with Enzo’s new plans and he needs to make a decision on what means more to him.

Already a big fan of Sidney Halston and this did not disappoint. Loved how Jamie Lynn cracked through Enzo’s exterior. If you want to be swept away on a wild romance story this is one to get right away. Highly entertaining.

A Gentleman's Surrender (Surrender #2)A Gentleman’s Surrender by Mariel Grey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lady Monique Cathdon is in the marriage mart, however she is torn between marrying for love and marrying for security. She doesn’t want the type of marriage her parents had, arranged, and love less. She finds the man who encompasses all she is looking for James Stanton, but he has no status.

Little does Lady Monique know that James has inserted himself in her life for revenge. As truths come out and feelings play a big part in their decisions, everything is about to crumble.

Fascinating, this was a complex tale. I liked that there was a lot of detail about the structure of society and the rights and wrongs. Found Lady Monique fascinating and a strong heroine. Definitely will pick up more from this author.

Outlaw's Vow (Grizzlies MC, #4)Outlaw’s Vow by Nicole Snow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ellie Jo planned one day to be married outside of the MC she was raised in. To have a family and never live in fear or have to play by the club rules. One can dream right, now she is being forced to marry her highschool crush Asphalt, she hated to crush on him but he got under her nerves. Now though she despises the man.

Asphalt doesn’t do love or anything with pretty words or flowers to go with them. He secretly tells himself he is marrying Elle Jo for the club, but realistically he always wanted her. One kiss seals their fate tough, Asphalt plans on making their sham of a marriage a real one but outside loyalties and Elle Jo’s fathers blunders play a role in tearing them apart, will they be able to brace the turmoil surrounding them?

Excellent read. I liked this one because both are pawns but Asphalt wants to man up. Elle Jo is torn between her father and Asphalt and her life had been so ingrained with rules her father set it is hard to put her hands in Asphalt’s. Thrill ride with every turn of the page.
