Blurb

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh stuns with a sizzling contemporary romance…

A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

Review

The second rock star Zachary Fox saw Molly Webster, he knew she was different. Fox oozes sex, he is demanding in bed, and he wants Molly. Molly has little experience and believes this is to be a one night stand, however she has no idea Fox has other ideas. Fox wants to see where life with Molly will lead, but she has some solid wall around her that needs to be carefully taken apart.

Molly lives a life where she knows she will never be in the spotlight again, a librarian who can live life under the radar but when Fox suggest a one month stand instead of one night she finds herself agreeing. Molly is falling for the dynamic and complex man.

I loved that this was not one sided, Fox has a few ghosts of his own. This was everything I was looking for for a Nalini Singh book, I have read several of her paranormal books and was curious how she would cross over, she does it brilliantly. Fox is foxy…if it were Christmas would be asking for him in my stocking. Molly is gun shy which I appreciated, she could have been a groupie type or easily fallen in and she hesitates which I thought added layers to the story. Excellent read, can’t wait for more in the Rock Kiss series.

Samuel (Samuel's Pride #1)Samuel by Kathi S. Barton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Kennedy Buehler’s brother tried to marry her off to cover a debt, she fled all the way to the US. Now trying to find a job with her over qualified credentials as a chef, she has a chance at working for the Payne’s. She knows they are shifters, but when she meets Samuel Payne she is immediately off kilter, the man oozes sensuality but he has warned her to stay out of his way.

Samuel left home young after another beating from his father, when his father hurt his mother that was it. Samuel has acquired everything that was his fathers, including providing a new home for his mother and the last thing he wants is a mate. He saw what an unstable family life was like and he vowed he would never do that, but Kennedy is his mate and he realizes he can’t stay away. However Kennedy believes he only married her for her money and estate and doesn’t want anything to do with Samuel, but after an incident leaves Samuel with the fear of losing Kennedy, he quickly goes about showing how important she is to him.

This had a lot of buildup and then a quick okay everything is fine moment. However the story was quite intriguing and looks to be an interesting series. Kennedy and Samuel are quite a couple and I enjoyed Kennedy’s Irish side, she is a handful.

Be My Hero by Linda Kage & Surviving Love by Ada Frost

BE MY HERO BY LINDA KAGE
Series – The Forbidden Men – Book Three (Eva and Pick)
Release Date – Aug 25
Length – 122,000 words aka 380 pages
Genre – Contemporary New Adult Romance
Blurb –
Once upon a time, there was this pampered rich girl who was kind of full of herself. She really only cared about appearances and hiding all her dark, ugly secrets under the guise of an opinionated snob. But then Eva Mercer got pregnant, shot by a psycho, and kicked out of the only home she knew. Now she’s broke, unemployed, and has to start anew with a newborn to raise. But how?

On the other side of town, sexy, tattooed orphan, Patrick Ryan, can’t get a break. He’s out on parole for defending the last damsel in distress while trying to help her support her child, but all he wants is to find his one true love. He knows this woman by scent, smile, and laugh, but he’s never actually met her. He doesn’t even know her name. He just knows she’s the key to fixing everything.

One kind of hero can save you from physical harm. Another can rescue you from a different kind of doom. To reach their dreams, Eva and Pick can save each other. But first, they must open their hearts and learn how to trust.

Review

Raised in dysfunction, Patrick “Pick” Ryan thought nothing of protecting his best friend who had received a reading from a psychic that left her ready to leave life early. He was a young boy at the time, but when the psychic caught him she altered his life forever showing him a glimpse of his future.

Life had not been what Pick had wanted, his Tink had not shown herself and now he is helping his best friend raise her child. In one instant he finds himself regretting his decision when Tink walks into his life. Eva “Tink” Mercer is pregnant and the child is not Picks. Pick can’t stay away and Eva needs a friend, together they find a calm neither has ever experienced and that they don’t want to let go of, even if it means they can only be friends. However fate has a wonderful way of intervening and maybe both will get their wish, each other.

Best in series so far. I am gaga over Pick, he is what a hero is meant to be. The story is filled with humor, romance, drama, and previous characters who I fell for in the previous book. Excellent read, best by far of what I have read by Linda Kage she always exceeds my expectations.

SURVIVING LOVE BY ADA FROST
Series – Surviving Series – Book Two
Release Date – Aug 25
Length – 92,000 words
Genre – Contemporary Romance
Blurb –
What do you do when you find out you’re pregnant, your boyfriend rejects you, your sister is beaten half to death and the most annoyingly gorgeous man takes up residence in your house? Well ladies, there is only one thing to do, pull up your big girl knickers and show the world your middle finger.

Louise Beaumont is renowned for her sharp wit, smart mouth and sassy personality. She comes out swinging in an argument, even when she’s wrong. But even some events in life can knock her on her arse. And fighting through the sludge of emotional pressure she’s had poured over her is taking its toll.

Johan Senior is broken. A man with a deeply traumatic past, shadows and monsters haunt his every waking hour. That is until a heavenly angel is sent in the form of a loud mouthed chestnut haired vixen, who threatens his manhood countless times. But his heart grabs onto her and refuses to let her go. The only problem is, his mind needs to allow him the pleasure of human touch, and to take that terrifying step of allowing someone into his heart.
Review

Broken, that is exactly what Johan Senior is. Everything he touches seems to crumble and now a close friend is on the brink of death. When Louise Beaumont tries to console Johan, she is torn because she had always thought of Johan as annoying, but now she is seeing another side of him that she finds endearing.

Pregnant with an absent boyfriend, Louise has enough on her plate. With her sister in a coma, she needs some support and finds it in Johan. As their life as friends changes Johan knows he can never give Louise the one thing she wants, intimacy. Louise though believes Johan has to face his past in order to have a full life with or without her.

This is a story that is about hope, I thought for Johan all would be lost but he finds that small glimmer to hold onto, Louise. Louise initially is distant with Johan but when she begins to understand him, everything fits into place. New to me author, look forward to reading more of her work.

The Everyday Mom's Guide to Being Fit and FabulousThe Everyday Mom’s Guide to Being Fit and Fabulous by Shondreka Palmer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a sixty day plan for those wanting to get in shape. Shondreka Palmer lays it out in a simple, easy to use guide with a day to day workout plan. The workout does involve treadmill and elliptical, which I don’t happen to have however I think you could easily fit the same principal into your daily plan. I find when I use a workout book if it is detailed and has a lengthy plan I follow the book with dedication, this book has that. I am going to incorporate into my daily plan as I have struggled lately with a workout plan.

I thought it was a refreshing take on the dreaded diet, you don’t you just be conscientious about your food choices. Worth picking up especially if you are wanting to lose baby weight.

Daniel (The Hunter Series, #4)Daniel by Kathi S. Barton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

O’Reilly Harlequin knew one day she would get a call from her sister and it would most likely be a goodbye, today was that day. Years later Reilly has become mother to her nephew, not that she really knows what she is doing, but she is focused on protecting him at all costs. She doesn’t need any distractions, especially that of Daniel Hunter.

Daniel is proud to be a bachelor, long term commitments are for the birds. Even though he would love to reconsider, especially now that he has met Reilly, he knows it will never lead to more than a life as lovers. Reilly though has her son to think about and her heart, she knows if she allows Daniel to continue as her lover she will lose her heart in the process. Daniel has to decide if he is willing to let her go or maybe have a change of heart.

This was a fun one, I don’t recall Daniel being so put off by relationships though. Reilly is protective of her nephew and I thought the whole dynamic between her and Daniel was seductive, but she always has her nephews interest at heart. Definitely worth reading.

Or before Tarin learns a truth that may seal her fate and be the one secret that will keep her and Graham apart as neither one of them may be able to forgive or forget…

Excerpt

Unloading, she hauled as much as she could and headed out into the hallway, once she’d checked to make sure there was no one there. She grabbed Chance’s free hand, his other one was hugging his big green rabbit.

The trip down in the elevator to the garage was uneventful but it didn’t ease her nerves or stop her from feeling there was someone watching her. Once the doors opened she walked quickly across the underground parkade, her heels clicking loudly, making her wince at the noise. Once at Stephen’s Mercedes which she was borrowing, she stuffed all she’d hauled down into the trunk and was just closing the lid when the guard came by.

“Mrs. Roth. How are you today?”

“Tarin, please. I’m good Dale and you?” During one of their many chats, he’d told her he’d been the guard there for over ten years. He was a bit of a gruff old guy but he’d taken a liking to her. The one time he’d seen her with a bruise on her forehead, he hadn’t said anything but he’d let her know he didn’t believe it was from a cupboard door. Which had been the truth, she just wasn’t sure herself it hadn’t been deliberate on Stephen’s part. Since then Dale had checked on her regularly and hinted many times that if she ever needed a place just for a short vacation, he had the best place for her. She knew he meant with him and his wife.

“Good. Good. The missus wants me to go on a cruise but I’m not sure I have the legs to be at sea for a week. I like solid ground under my feet. She’s trying to get me into retirement mode. I’m done in a couple of months.”

She laughed. “Oh but it’ll be fun. You probably stop at a lot of islands and get off the ship, right?”

“Yes but we have to get to them islands first.” He smiled at her. “Anyway can I help you? I saw you were packing a lot of stuff. I’d be more than happy to help you bring it down.”

She tried hard not to react but she knew she hadn’t succeeded when the color bleached out of her face and she saw his look of concern.

“Are you all right?”

“Yeah. Yeah. Just have a few things to do. Thanks but I… uh… don’t need help. I’m good. But thanks.”

“Hungry. Hungry,” Chance who had hidden behind her leg chanted just loud enough for her to hear.

“I know, love. We just have to go up and get a few more things and then we’ll go out for breakfast, okay?”

“Now, Mommy. Now.”

“How did his birthday turn out?”

Tarin smiled. Dale had bought him a present since he’d been born. She wondered who’d be there to give him a present when he turned three. “He loved it. Thank you so much for the car, he barely puts it down. He plays with it all the time.” She didn’t know how to tell him his gift was the only one that hadn’t come from her. Stephen hadn’t wanted any other kids over. Not that she knew any, anyway.

Review

Tarin was missing for a week, she doesn’t know what happened but she does know that she ended up pregnant and has no idea what to do next. She fell into the arms of Stephen, who she married and lived two years in terror, she has had enough and runs with her young son.

Getting a job with Knights Associates is a perfect fit for Tarin, they solve cyber crimes and Tarin maybe able to get the answers she has longed to find out, primarily what happened that week. However her employer Graham knows Tarin is hiding something and is determined to figure it out. When the reason Tarin became pregnant comes back and wants to take the child, Tarin finds herself immersed in a tangled web of deceit.

Intriguing story that is a cat and mouse chase until the end. I liked that Tarin has had enough and does what she thinks is best for her son. There is so much to this story as it unravels, you are going to be on the edge of your seat from the very first page.

Meeting Cree is just the icing on the cake and he has the most adorable daughter she has ever seen. As Cree and Milly begin their life together as a couple it is not without a bit of panic that something will go wrong, but Milly should never underestimate the power of love.Milly is a hoot and so much fun the story is filled with humor and zest for life. Lacey’s Story…Covering up pain is easy. It’s keeping
it tucked away that’s hard. I’ve always needed the cover of tattoos to hide the
nasty past that leached its way into me, tainting me beneath my skin. Not the shiny, trendy tats, but the ugly broken kind, meant to keep the
world at bay. If they weren’t enough, then my piercings, foul mouth and crazy
hair usually did the trick. Life had taught me to never follow the rules,
because when you do, you get burned. My life was perfectly imperfect
until Tripp…Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel
meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp
was sexy as hell, a charismatic beast, and soon became one of my best friends.
We shared a love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could
only lead to a beautiful train wreck.

The only question left is, will we
set the countryside ablaze with our hot tempers and foul mouths? Or will we
paint our own happy ending filled with all the gushy shit normal people crave?

Willow has known heartbreak, in face after a humiliating end to her marriage she can’t seem to pull out of the hostile rut she has found herself in. When she meets Miles, a renter who has an apartment of her sister-in-law, she just wants to smack him. He is handsome, more so than any man deserves and doesn’t seem to be perturbed by her rude behavior.

Miles realizes Willow is dealing with a ton of emotions, she is hurt, betrayed, and in a frenzy of unfocused anger. Miles has dealt with his own issues and knows that Willow just needs time and that eventually she will realize it is time to move on. Friends to lovers, Willow is starting over and happier than she has ever been, but when she learns a secret about Miles everything in her safe world is about to shatter.

I wasn’t expecting this one, there is a lot that happens with all of my favorite characters from the first two books. Miles is filed with surprises and I was a bit torn on Willow initially because she was such a sweet character and she is pissed in this one, but Miles has a way of softening her heart again. Another excellent read from H.J. Bellus.

There are no rules. Only payments.

A modern day Dark Erotic Romance

Excerpt: Debt Inheritance:  Meet Jethro & Nila

 ONE – Nina’s POV

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

 **

TWO – Jethro’s POV

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”

I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.

And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted tosavour it. Devour it.

Review

The only mistake Nila Weaver made was being born. The first born daughter to a Weaver has a debt to pay to the first born son of the Hawks, and he has come to collect.

Nila has no idea about the debt she has to pay, centuries old she now finds her fate in a man determined to break her.

Dark, haunting, and completely unlike anything you have read before. I wont reveal too much because it would spoil what happens to Nila, the story is provocative and you will be spellbound as it unravels. Expect to be kept guessing with this intriguing new series, can’t wait to see what happens next.

SUGAR ON THE EDGE

BY USA Today Best-selling Author Sawyer Bennett

Last Call, #3

Adult Contemporary Romance

 Releasing July 28, 2014

He’s utterly alone…

Tortured and existing in a dark spiral of despair, bestselling British author, Gavin Cooke, has come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to escape the seedy lifestyle he had been living in London and in a desperate attempt to regain his writing focus. He’s twisted, bitter and angry at the world. He’s a loner… needing not a single thing other than his Scotch and a laptop upon which he can bang out his next erotic, dark thriller.

She’s running in place and getting nowhere…

Savannah Shepherd’s life is falling apart. Her dream of being a wildlife photographer seems a distant memory and she’s barely able to make ends meet. Driving herself forward with no clear goals apparent, she’s about ready to pack up her bags and head home with her tail between her legs.

Two unlikely lovers…

He’s raw, forceful and a dirty talker. She’s a flowers and romance type of girl. Yet within each other, they find a mutual craving that can only be satisfied by giving in to their desires for one another.

Lust turns into something more… something they were not looking for but tentatively accept. Will it be enough to push them past the obstacles of Gavin’s bitter past?

*SUGAR ON THE EDGE can be read as a stand-alone*

Review

Writer Gavin Cooke is a broken man, under pressure to finish his next novel, Gavin relocates across the ocean to North Carolina. He is jaded, rude, and spends most of his time with a bottle but when he hires a house cleaner he believes he has her pegged. She is sweet, timid, and innocent, he couldn’t be more wrong.

Savannah Shepherd is just trying to get by, having been dealt another blow she is working herself ragged and has just taken a new client. Gavin is forthright in his opinion of her, but she keeps surprising her. Gavin begins to wake up from his hole and finds he just can’t get enough of Savannah, however he is not sure if he can let go of the past in order to have a future.

Spicy, seductive, and surprising. This was another great read from Sawyer Bennett, Gavin is a jerk with a capital J and he goes about putting people one edge. It brings him joy to make some one uncomfortable, but when he does this to Savannah he finds he doesn’t necessarily relish in the satisfaction of being a dick, he wants for Savannah to see him differently. Highly entertaining.
