Patch Up (Patch Up, #1)Patch Up by Stephanie Witter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Skye had thought she made the right choice following her boyfriend to college. Only to be dumped and harassed by her ex every time he saw her. Withdrawn and hardened into a shell, Sky focuses on studying not making friends, parties, or any of the other normal college events. Meeting Duke, a TA in one of her classes, he makes her uncomfortable, he sees right thru her. Duke knows something is up with Skye, he wants to help her but both have issues they are trying to evade and Skye calls him out on it. As Skye begins to find a bit of herself back she agrees to try a friendship with Duke.

This was an intense story. You know Skye is hiding something and as the story progresses you feel like you are a part of her. duke has his own brand of heartbreak and he initially Skye and he collide. I thought this was a powerful read and addressed an issue that is difficult to read about. That being said I thought the emotions and the way the author handled it was beautifully done.

Lyon's Angel (The Lyon, #2)Lyon’s Angel by Jordan Silver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Colton Lyon has kept his girl safely by his side. Kat Sloan is flourishing as they begin their life together. With that though Colt is protective because of her past and Kat is pushing back a bit wanting to be treated as his equal. To Colt she is his equal, his everything but as a man it is his duty to love, cherish, and protect. With enemies still waiting to be brought down, Colt’s only objective is keeping Kat by his side and eliminating everyone in his wake.

I reread the first book because the reviews have been so good I thought I was missing something. Second time it is better, I will say that sometimes Kat shows her age. Colt is older and a dominant, you never have any doubt how much he loves her. I think this was better than the first book and leaves you wanting to continue on the series.

Balls to the wall, baby!

Now five years later, Riley is determined to atone for his mistakes and prove that he can be the man that Devyn deserves. Little does he know that Devyn’s been keeping a secret from him all these years. A big secret. Now he has to figure out how to win back the only girl he’s ever loved while navigating the pitfalls of her unexpected revelation.

Deal Breakers is filled with lots of laughs, a sexy romance, and an overflowing swear jar.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt
“What should we toast to?”
I think about it for a second. “To new friends?”
With an unbelievably sexy grin he asks, “What if I want to explore being more than friends?”
I roll my eyes. “Do you ever give up?”
I find myself staring at his dimples as he replies, “Not when I see something I want.”
Review
Devyn met Riley her freshman year at college, their friendship was immediate. Riley has always been attracted to Devyn and there are times when he feels the feelings are mutual. However, Riley plays the field, he is not looking for anything other than fun and Devyn is not that type of girl. When Devyn asks Riley for a favor after they graduate, Riley is blown away with what it is. A one night, no strings attached moment where he takes her virginity.
Five years later, Riley bumps into Devyn and she has been keeping a secret. Past regrets show up and Riley realizes Devyn is his one. Can he get Devyn to trust him again?
Wonderful read. Riley freaked on Devyn, he hurt her deeply. When he sees her again he questions what he did and how to get her back. Devyn never stopped loving Riley, but has he really changed? I liked the mention of Blazers, UofO, etc big fan so it always gives me warm fuzzies when a story has a personal tie to home.
4 Stars
Red Summers is finally getting a chance with her longtime crush, Mason Pierce. Her life has been a bit of a roller coaster with finding out her best friend was dating her man and the breakup that ensued. Now Red is getting close and finding herself even more infatuated with Mason Pierce. It should be fun and light but something is being kept from Red that could destroy everything.
I had not read the first two books, while I was able to figure out what had happened I think it would be beneficial to read in order. There are a ton of fun characters in this story and I am anxious to find out what happens next to Red. If you like stories that have that small town feel with a few smiles along the way, this is one to pick up.
A Sweet Possibility (Archer Cove, #2)A Sweet Possibility by Natalie Charles
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Baker Jessica Mallory is just waiting until her boyfriend Quinn Rogerson has is career plan in place before he will propose. Problem is Quinn isn’t looking for more than a fun relationship with Jessica. When he breaks up and gives her the reasons why they will never be a match, she comes up with a plan. Revamp herself with the help of their mutual friend Nate Lancaster.
Nate has been in love with Jessica for years. She can’t seem to see what is blatantly in front of her, instead consumed by Quinn. When one moment changes everything Nate has some hope that maye this will be the chance he has been looking for, will Jessica finally choose the right man?
Very fun read. Reminded me a bit of Bridget Jones Diary. The story had humor and kind of an ugly duckling makeover which I am always a sucker for. Filled with entertaining characters, loved Jessica she is in her own little world. Highly entertaining.
Janie Adler likes her quiet, orderly life reviewing books for a small New Orleans newspaper exactly the way it is. So what if Duke Hot Pants, the hero of her favorite romance novel, is the only man in her life? She has a Pulitzer Prize to chase. That is until her quirky twin sister Rachel moves in, bringing boyfriend drama, a smelly ferret, and irrational belief in all things magickal along with her.
Persuaded by a local voodoo priestess-and maybe one margarita too many-the twins cast spells to improve their love lives. Loser-magnet Rachel focuses on avoiding the wrong men and Janie seeks her romance novel ideal. While plenty of eligible bachelors flood into their lives, Janie only has eyes for her coworker who lives in the apartment downstairs and works in the cube next to her.
But the twins soon discover the incantations’ many unintended-and dangerous-consequences. The increasing number of mishaps and misfortune putting the sisters in grave peril seems more like the work of a curse. Can Janie and Rachel’s “twintuition” save them from the menace stalking them?
The Lion and the Lamb (The Predator and the Prey #1)The Lion and the Lamb by Jenika Snow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Tatum Weatherton lived a life under the neglect and abuse of a mother who did her best to destroy her spirit. Even in her death she continues to be confined over the brutal words and constant reminders of where she came from. Having battled an eating disorder, Tatum is trying to come to terms as a full figured woman. When her best friend sets her up with an interview at a Gentleman’s Club as a waitress, she is reluctant but does not want to disappoint her friend by not going.
Leo Castill, owner of The Lion and the Lamb, cannot believe the goddess before him. Tatum is human but his cat knows it’s mate. However she is skittish and Leo has to try and woo her human style, Tatum makes sure to keep the distance between them though and Leo has to figure out to push through the barriers she has erected. When an old adversary shows up and shows interest in Tatum, Leo’s lion is protective and does what he has to too protect her.
Excellent read. I thought the pacing was perfect and Leo took time to get to know Tatum not just claim her. Quite different than Jenika Snow’s other stories. Leo is pure male magnetism. Look forward to more in this series.
On the Way to EverywhereOn the Way to Everywhere by Kirsten B. Feldman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Harry Kavanaugh wants out of the exclusive all girls school she is attending. Harry, goes by her Harry Potter nickname, she is tall, different, and a target for being bullied. Harry’s home life is similar to her school life and in it all she is just trying to become the person she is meant to be. Harry begins a journey that includes finding herself and a few surprises along the way.
I think any reader of this book could find someone to identify with, whether as Harry or some of the other interesting characters that fill the book. I reflected a bit once finished thinking about the awkwardness of being that teenager and the restrictiveness of what you can or cannot do. The knowing of what yu want and not having the capacity to do it. Kristen B. Feldman writes a wonderful story readers will enjoy.
On The Fly by Catherine Gayle Book Tour
29 Saturday Aug 2015
USA Today bestselling author Catherine Gayle presents another novel in the Portland Storm hockey romance series.
Injury after injury has put Brenden Campbell’s NHL career on hold for years. Now he’s playing for the Portland Storm and determined to make it stick. Few things in life drive him more than being told he can’t have something he wants, and what he wants most is to prove he belongs. Brenden also wants Rachel Shaw, the cute, little redhead who just got hired as the general manager’s new assistant. But then she went and made herself off-limits, telling him: “I don’t date.” Those three words pretty much guarantee that he’ll do everything he can to change her mind.
Rachel is changing things up on the fly for her family, moving them somewhere she can be the kind of mom her kids deserve. Allowing anyone else to be in their lives is out of the question, at least until her instincts get back on track. How else can she be sure who to steer the kids clear of? Right now she trusts no one, including herself, and especially not a man like Brenden Campbell. He’s way too handsome and a little bit cocky. Falling for a guy like him is a mistake she can’t afford to make twice.
