Trickster
Christina Bauer
(Angelbound Lincoln, #3)
Published by: Monster House Books
Publication date: February 25th 2020
Genres: Fantasy, Paranormal, Young Adult

***A hilarious adventure after the events of Angelbound SCALA … and it’s all from Prince Lincoln’s point of view!!!***

With the drama of the Ghost Towers and Lucifer’s Orb behind them, Lincoln looks forward to sharing some quality time with Myla. Maybe they’ll even do a ‘regular couple thing’ like a dinner date. Or they could kill more demons together. Lincoln isn’t picky.

Then a trickster gets loose inside Antrum. And by trickster, we’re talking a giant orange monkey with magical powers and a love of causing drama with uptight thrax.

Looks like date night is on hold.

Author’s Note To Readers: You can read this book after Angelbound Origins SCALA or not. I wrote it to work either way.

Author’s Note to Self: Why do I write things out of sequence? Wasn’t SCALA published a while ago? To which I say to myself: self, this is how our gift works. Just be happy it does. And go eat more cookies. We like those.

Book Blitz: Write A Book That Doesn’t Suck by Jaimie Engle

Non-Fiction
Date Published:  Hardcover November 30th

Your Book Might Suck…

But it doesn’t have to.

You are an awesome writer with an incredible fiction story the world needs to experience. But your book… well, it kind of sucks. So let’s fix that.

Setting your novel apart from the rest is a choice.

Fiction is more than a character doing stuff in a place you’ve invented. There are rules to magic and seasons to setting and double meanings to words, and a cadence to sentence structure if you want to write a book that doesn’t suck.

I guarantee you will find tricks and treats you’ve never heard or read before in any other writing book. If not, let me know and I’ll refund your money. But if I’m right, and my book helps you to write a novel that doesn’t suck, then I’m asking you, in return to leave a positive review. That’s fair, isn’t it?

Ready to get started? Great! There are questions with space to answer at the end of each chapter to help you along your journey. I’m super excited for you and wish you all the luck in writing your novel!

Review: Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Red Rising (Red Rising, #1)Red Rising by Pierce Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Darrow is considered part of the Reds, each person born on Mars is stationed by color and by what they have to offer. Red is the bottom of the of the different colors. When a major event happens that changes the course of his life, Darrow has a chance to get revenge. Everything Darrow thought he knew is about to be shattered and Darrow will play a role he never expected.

There is so much to this story that I don’t want to give too much away. I thought this was exceptional. Yes there are similarities to Hunger Games but I thought this had a whole different aspect to it that was more suspenseful because Darrow has a huge burden on this shoulders to accomplish the impossible. Excellent.

Viper
Marteeka Karland
(Bones MC, #4)
Published by: Changeling Press
Publication date: December 13th 2019
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Darcy: I didn’t run away from a sadistic stepfather and a mother who wouldn’t protect me from him to be carted off by a strange man. I fought the son of a bitch. Woulda won, too, except the bastard had help. He was rough around the edges and some kind of bad-ass biker so there was no way this was going to work out well. Unfortunately, he called to me on a purely sexual level. Made my heart race and my body melt just by looking at me. It didn’t help that he was actually nice to me. He claimed to know my dad. My real dad. Said he’d been sent to bring me back. I had no idea if I believed him or not. Just didn’t really have a choice but to go along with him. At least for now.

Viper: I tracked the cunning little wench for three fuckin’ days. In the fuckin’ snow. Little wench was good, too. She survived on her own in a hostile environment with only a little trouble. That alone would have given me respect for her, but then she had to go and kick me in the balls. Had I not been on the ground in agony, I’d have been turned on beyond belief. Now, with her safely under my protection, I’ve got to figure out how to keep my hands off her so her father won’t kill my sorry ass. He’s our intel man and one of my best friends, so I don’t want to cause him grief. But I want Darcy. Badly.

As Christmas nears, an enemy approaches us with a unique gift. One that will leave all of us with hard choices. Darcy especially. What unfolded next was never somethin’ any of us planned for.

Book Blitz: All of Him: A Single Dad Collection

All of Him: A Single Dad Collection
Publication date: November 29th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

A broken relationship.
A mother’s death.
A mistake made.

Each of these men are struggling to put their lives back together. Whether it be from the loss of the woman who blessed them with their children or a decision made in the heat of passion that changed everything, all they know is they have to try — for their children and for themselves.

From these amazing authors comes “All of Him: A Single Dad Collection.”

Before Her by Anita Maxwell

When Jenny arrives in River Falls, a sleepy little town in Montana, she sets herself on a mission to find a job and a place to stay for a few weeks. After traveling the west coast for the last couple of months, she is ready to chill and get some cash behind her before she leaves on the next leg of her journey.

Enter the Lonesomes with their gorgeous twin baby boys. The three rugged cowboys steal her breath away and the little boys steal her heart. Before she knows it, she’s agreed to be their nanny for a few weeks while they look for someone permanent.

But something Jenny didn’t know when she first entered River Falls was that the town was built on a polygamous way of life. Once the Lonesome brothers set their sights on Jenny, there is almost nothing that will stop these sexy single dads from making her their own.

This is a Reverse Harem story, light on steam, but heavy on tension and angst.

The Baby Drop Off by Kelsie Rae

I’m not father material. Hell, I’m not boyfriend material, either. I’m looking-for-a-good-time material with a side of no-strings-attached.

But when a baby shows up on my doorstep with a note saying I’m the father, everything changes. With no other options, I reach out to my neighbor.

Tasha is the girl-next-door with a side of sugar who’s nice enough to step in as a nanny while I figure out what to do with a freaking kid. I never thought Tasha was my type until I see her loving on my baby.

As lines start to blur, and rules get broken, some secrets stay hidden that hold me back from creating a life I never knew I wanted until it was tossed into my lap.

I just wish I could convince her to give me a chance, but she won’t even let me try.

Only the Lies by Elle Thorpe

Him: Six foot, four inches. Thor look-alike. Kickass black belt ninja man, and gym owner.

Me: Barely five foot. Resembles an overstuffed dumpling. Semi-decent receptionist of the office across the road.

Match made in heaven? I think so. Which is why I get to work early each morning, and stare longingly out the window, desperate for my daily glimpse of him.

The man doesn’t know I’m alive, and I don’t have the lady balls to do anything about it. Until the postman delivers the gym’s mail to my office. It’s the perfect excuse to strut over there and introduce myself, right?

Wrong.

When he mistakes me for someone else, I’m so blinded by his abs that I don’t correct him. And now he’s calling me someone else’s name, and I don’t know how to turn this around apart from to bolt back to my desk with my ass jiggling behind me.

I never expected he’d follow me.

Or anything that happened next.

Broken Down by Paige Taylor

As a teacher, It’s Savannah Torvel’s duty to make sure every student is given the best possible chance at education. When a little girl starts acting out, and calls to the parent go unanswered, it’s perfectly acceptable to storm the parent’s workplace and confront them, right?

Broken Down follows the story of Savannah and Mason Bell, two people whose lives keep intersecting. Will they embrace fate or risk disrepair?

SNEAK PEEKS:

“The Baby Drop Off” by Kelsie Rae – EXCERPT

The call disconnects, and I shove the phone into my back pocket before opening the door and jumping out of my skin.

“What the hell?” I mumble under my breath, assessing the soft pink lump on my welcome mat. Squatting low, I tilt my head to get a better look. What the hell is a car seat covered with a pink blanket doing in my hallway? As I lean a little closer, a soft cry squeaks through the blanket, and I fall flat on my ass. You’d think it was the grim reaper with my overreaction, but I’m still trying to wrap my head around a kid being at my front door.

So, sue me.

The crying escalates until I’m looking up and down the hallway, afraid someone’s going to complain about the noise while praying they know how to make it stop at the same time.

With the sole of my sneaker, I nudge the car seat to rock it back and forth, but the motion doesn’t quiet the baby inside. As if the kid’s a ticking time bomb, I edge closer and slowly lift the blanket. Sure enough, a little human is tucked inside, its face red with anger.

Shit.

“You okay, little buddy?” I ask cautiously, inspecting the rest of the car seat for any clues about who this kid is and why it’s on my doorstep. Tucked between the baby’s kicking legs and the side of the seat, a white envelope catches my eye.

Releasing a slow breath while giving myself a mental pep talk, I reach into dangerous territory and snatch the letter like it’s a damn viper. After I give myself a mental high five for my bravery, I slide my finger below the lid, pull the note out, and start reading.

Shane,

In the diaper bag, you’ll find the papers that give up my rights as a mom. I’m signing her over to you… her dad. I also added her birth certificate and anything else you might need to get you by for a few days. I’m sorry to spring this on you, but I can’t be the mom she needs. Her name’s Adaline. Please take care of her, and please forgive me for screwing up your life. This was the only thing I could think to do. If you don’t want her, I added the adoption papers. Do what’s best for you and her… whatever that might be.

-Molly

Scanning the message a few dozen times, my hands shake as the baby continues to wail from the car seat. Unfortunately, I’m too stunned to move a muscle. What the hell am I supposed to do with a freaking kid?

When the baby’s screams reach a decibel that could break glass, the door across the hall opens to reveal my neighbor, Tasha. Long, red hair that reaches her lower back, quirky purple glasses that frame her toffee colored eyes, and the sweetest smile you’ve ever seen.

Yeah, you heard that right. Sweet.

Which means she’s off limits, and I wouldn’t touch her with a ten-foot pole.

I don’t do sweet. I do dirty and hot. I do sexy and passionate. But never sweet.

“Only the Lies” by Elle Thorpe – EXCERPT

The clinic door banged open. “Did I miss him?” Bree panted, staggering over to join me at the window.

I shook my head. “Not yet. Should be any minute now.”

We both peered through the slatted blinds like the stalkers we were, neither of us bothering to acknowledge Damien, my boss and Bree’s boyfriend, when he struggled through the door a minute later, juggling coffee and breakfast for the three of us.

He dumped his armful of takeaway bags and trays on the reception desk, then leaned back on it, picking up the pile of mail I’d left there.

“Bree,” he said casually, “you do remember that I’m your boyfriend, right? I’m nice. Funny. Somewhat attractive? A lesser man would be devastated by your actions, you know.”

Bree looked over her shoulder and blew him a kiss. “You know you’re my number one, babe. But this guy…”

“Yeah, yeah, I know. Buns of steel.”

I dragged my gaze away from the parking lot that was still irritatingly empty of one oversized black ute and the oversized man who drove it. “Buns of steel? Really? You think that’s why we stare out the window each morning, waiting for him to drive in? It has nothing to do with that.”

He snorted. “Oh, really?”

I grinned. “Nope, it has more to do with the biceps, and the abs—”

“The man has a shirt on every morning, Cleo. How have you seen his abs?”

“Oh, we’ve seen them, all right,” Bree confirmed. “You can see them through his shirt. That’s how cut he is. And there was that one time…”

I let my head drop back on my shoulders and made prayer hands while I thanked the big guy upstairs. “The day he ran to work with no shirt on. That blessed day where the heavens opened and birds sang and—”

“Hey!” Bree squealed as Damien covered her eyes and dragged her away from the window. “I’m going to miss the show.”

“How ‘bout I give you a show of my own?”

“Oh, really?”

“Mmmm hmmm.”

Damien’s lips brushed Bree’s neck, and suddenly Bree was more interested in her man than being my wing-woman. I groaned good-naturedly when Damien dragged her back toward his office and closed the door.

“Patients will be here in thirty, Damien! I’m not covering for you!”

“Move my first appointment,” he yelled through the closed door. “I’m gonna need at least an hour.”

Bree’s laughter echoed back.

EXCERPT:

I look up, greeted by smiling green eyes coming my way. A smile slips across my mouth. He’s sexy as hell. “I take it you lost?”

“I did.” Nix sits down across from me in the chair Jaggs just evacuated. “On purpose.” He winks.

“Okay, that’s my cue.” Harley grabs her glass and makes her way over to Jaggs and Token.

I laugh, turning my attention back to Nix. “You intended to lose?”

“That’s right.” He takes a swig of his beer, eyes still fixed on me since the walk over to the table.

“You’re the first guy I know who’s ever been proud of losing.”

Holding his beer in the air, nearly to his mouth, he squints his eyes at me. “Did I lose?” He finishes the rest of his beer and sets it on the table. “The way I see it, that loss brought me to the prettiest girl in the room.”

“Prettiest?” I smirk. Yeah, he’s a flirt.

“Smartest, nicest, and the only one I see worth flirting with.” His eyes move to my mouth.

“Right now,” I confirm, watching his little grin twitch.

“Yes. What’s wrong with that? Are you looking for more? ’Cause, sweetheart, we can certainly discuss it. I’m game.” His eyes shift to mine. “But I thought you were all about getting naked in bed without getting our hearts involved.”

“I never said that.”

“Yeah, because I didn’t give you the opportunity to complete your sentence. If I recall correctly, you chose to go into your bedroom and let me make you forget about tomorrow.” He lounges back into the barstool. “So would you like to talk about it now?” His sexy grin grows into a naughty smile, and he’s still got me in his sights, not letting go, patiently waiting for a response.

Shit! “Talk about what?” I feign ignorance as I work my fingers along the stem of my wine glass again. Why didn’t I just keep my mouth closed … and my legs. That’s what got me into this situation in the first place.

“Our hearts,” he says without batting an eye. “Would you like to discuss if you want to get our hearts involved?”

“Ahh …” Dammit! How does he say it so easily? We’re not talking about what movie to go see or where to eat; we’re talking about getting into a relationship. “I … ah,” I take the last sip of my wine.

“Yes?” His eyebrow lifts as he rests his muscular forearms on the table and leans in toward me.

“Yes?” I grimace.

“Yes, you want to talk about it, or yes, you want to get them involved?”

“Do I have to make a decision right this minute?”

“No. Not at all. We can continue being friends and see where this goes, but just to be clear, there will be no me making you forget about tomorrow until you do decide.”

“What? Why not?”

“’Cause while you’re not sure of what you want, I am perfectly clear about what I want. I want you, Payton Tucker, and not just in my bed. I’d like to have you in here too.” He taps his chest over his heart.

Sale Blitz: Phantom Frost by Alfred Wurr

Sci-fi Fantasy
Date Published: October 2019
Publisher: Wurreal Games

On Sale for $.99

A unique sci-fi/fantasy crossover novel set in the universe of the forthcoming Wurreal Games video game.

Shivurr remembers little before the Bodhi Institute, the secret government installation where he’s been held and studied like a lab rat for the past decade.

It hasn’t been all bad, though, for a soda-pop-loving sci-fi fanboy, especially in 1983. He’s got all the TV, movies and arcade games he could ever want. But lately, flashes of his forgotten past have invaded his dreams: visions of an ancient chamber where the mysteries of his origin may finally be resolved.

Compelled to find it, Shivurr embarks on a quest, fleeing the facility in the dark of night. Escaping is easy; the Bodhi Group guards didn’t dream he’d ever try. The Nevada desert is dangerous for warm bloods; for a snowman, it’s pretty much suicide, even for one with his seemingly magical command of frost and ice.

Hunted by Bodhi Group agents, keeping to the shade when he can find it, he’s determined to survive; he’s got a feeling the world may depend on it. And, if he doesn’t, well, everyone melts eventually, right?

Excerpt

Chapter 1

Lunar Crater

No matter how cool you are, everyone melts, eventually. Those words echoed through my head as I raced across the desert floor, heading northeast toward Lunar Crater, under the Nevada sun. Where I had heard them before, I couldn’t recall. My memory wasn’t what it used to be, but I would hear those words spoken to me in my dreams sometimes, stepping out of the inky black fog of my damaged memory. I think someone close to me had said them ages ago. They were strange words since the only person I knew of for whom melting was a concern was me. Regardless, seldom before was that fate as likely to occur for someone—that being me—as it was today.

I’d been gulping dry air and daydreaming of cold cans of soda pop, muttering product slogans to myself to keep my spirits up for several miles now. Steam rose from my icy shoulders, trailing me in wisps, disappearing into the dry desert air a few feet back. My cold feet left wet footprints on the sandy ground that soon evaporated into nothingness. I kicked a loose rock, stumbled, but caught myself before falling.

Without more moisture, I’ll soon be eating dust, I thought. Just a hot mess for the agents to find. Scratch that—my corpse won’t be around long enough. I’ll melt away, leaving only a trail of faint roundish footprints leading nowhere. They’ll think I flew away, picked up by Soviet agents in a helicopter. I’d love to see Dixon’s face, thinking the Reds got me.

Nineteen hours earlier, I’d escaped a prison—the labs of a top-secret research facility called the Bodhi Institute. For about a decade, I’d been an unwilling participant in more experiments than I care to remember. I’d slipped out a side door in the middle of the night with a small cache of supplies provided by my best friend, Scott. It was easier than expected, but I guess I didn’t seem suicidal to the Bodhi Group watchmen. The weak part of me wished I were back there: trapped but cool, a glass of ice water in hand, watching TV, reading a book, or taking a nap. But my nightmares made that impossible. I’d ignored them for months, while they haunted only my sleep. But when they’d invaded my waking hours, I had to go. I had to find answers. I had to find the ancient chamber that stood at their epicentre and that some instinct told me lay ahead of me, in the desert waste.

I didn’t know who I was or where I came from. Not really; not fully. Sure, I remembered most of the years of my detention with crystal clarity. I knew what I was: an organism of snow and ice, unique in all the world. A snowman, they called me; cold hands with a warm heart. I knew what I was capable of; even with no legs, my feet run like the wind and allow me to jump as high as I am tall. I can do other things—things that frighten and astonish people, people like those chasing me. So much so, they’d locked me up and studied me like a lab rat for the past decade. I remembered all that, but little to nothing further into my past than my capture and imprisonment. And I remembered my name, Shivurr, but it was a name, an identity, that lacked history or context, which was both freeing and frustrating.

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Ada Stone will be awarding a $10 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Over 9,000 years ago, an ancient spiritual energy leaks through a link in time entering Thenitiwan, destroying the barrier between the past and future. The spirit enters a host or Hawopas to block the portals spiritual gravity through carnal energy of a living body to survive.

Over the centuries, a powerful civilization called Sagerowa emerges knowing that history favors the rise and death of great nations throughout time. Sagerowa eventually gained control of the gateway and entered future eras and destroyed them to weaken them and sought to freeze their era in time forever.

Many years later in the midst of the tension of the nation’s most recent war, Joie tries to return home with the assistance of Xuca who escorted her to safety. Xuca however is unable to look after her and be loyal to his goals and let her go as a priority. She soon finds comfort and resolve in a stranger named Keogx from the pain of missing the soldier she felt had her back and unknowingly more parts of her heart.

Read an Excerpt from Book Two:

“You seem very worried about my safety. Did something ever happen to someone you cared about?” she asked.

She asked, “He placed another firewood into the flame and said, “I have. It was many years ago.”

She thought and said, “It must have been tough…… How did you get through it?” she asked.

He replied, “I had to keep reminding myself that I was paying a price.”

“A price? What price?” she asked.

He said, “The price of connection.”

The thunder slightly rumbled as the wind blew harder in the air. The clouds above hidden in the black sky released their water droplets that slowly came falling down. She looks up into the skies and blinks as the water dripped onto her face. She then looks down to avoid the water from showering in her face. She then shivers slight at the cold rain that persistently fell. Then she hears him whispering some form of chant. Then great wings spread from his shoulders over her shielding her from the rain. She looks up at him noticing the change. Her eyes widened with surprise as she lets out a low gasp. She was speechless. “Don’t be afraid.” he said.

“What are you? A bird?!” she asked.

“A beast spirit possessor. Just listen, clear your mind,” he specified.

He began to blow a wind instrument releasing beautiful penetrating sounds into the air. Against the thunder. She listens and it caused her to fall asleep though she tried to fight it. It was like a musical spell. The tone was oddly familiar to her conscious somehow. She could not tell why. She closed her eyes and he said lowly as she closed her eyes gradually, “Sweet dream, child.”

He stared at her as she was sleeping looking peaceful and calm.

He says again,

“Sweet dreams. Cause reality is not.”

About the Author: I am Ada Stone and have been writing since high school and interested in societal problems and of course, fiction. The ability to make up a world and share it means a great deal as the real world is what it is.

My Pulse
Hanna Dale
Publication date: November 26th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

For single mom Tristan Maddox, moving to the small town of Broward, Georgia is the opportunity she needs to provide her daughter with a better life. A bigger house where they can each have their own bedroom, a backyard to play in, a place where they can put down roots and be part of a community, are all part of the reason she chose Broward as their new home. Nowhere on that list was her sexy next door neighbor, Owen, his adorably affable dog, Huck, or his crazy family.

Owen Gallahanger is perfectly content with his life the way it is. He has a job he loves, a family that he can count on, even if they drive him crazy most of the time, and his loyal sidekick, Huck. He isn’t looking for anything more, but after meeting Tristan and her daughter, he quickly realizes exactly what he is missing.

But not everyone is happy that Tristan is in Broward. As an unknown threat continues to escalate, Owen has to fight to protect the woman he loves, and their future together, or risk losing everything.

EXCERPT:

“It’s pretty damn simple.”

I shake my head. “Nothing about you appears to be simple.” I shove the package of hotdogs into his chest, ignoring the hard press of his pectoral muscles beneath my hands. “You scowled at me the entire first time we meet.”

“I thought you were going to murder my sister,” he interrupts.

“Then you flirt with me the second time we meet; at least I think you were flirting with me. I suck at reading these types of situations.”

“There was a little flirting, yes,” he confirms.

“Then there’s the beach, and I don’t even know what to say about that. You were flirting again, and you made Stella’s day when you did her ocean wave. Then you show up where I work and Lesa, who is basically my new boss, is clearly in love with you, which could cause me all kinds of problems, and yet somehow I let you convince me to invite you into my home where you get pissed because I’m on the phone with my sister.” I take a deep breath. “I think moving to Broward killed several thousand of my brain cells. This is completely out of character for me.”

His free hand settles on my other hip, turning my body into his. I flick my hand back and forth between us. “See!” I exclaim. “What in the hell is this? I’m so confused.”

“It’s pretty damned simple,” he says again, leaning in closer to me. He smells like leather and wood, and some sort of spice, and it’s intoxicating and not helping me grow any of those missing brain cells back. His nose rubs along the side of my neck. “Are you sniffing me?” Surely that’s not my breathless voice asking the question. His nose brushes just behind my ear, and my entire body involuntarily shudders in response. I’m pretty sure I’m about three-point-five seconds from having an orgasm, and he’s hardly touching me.

“You smell like peaches. I noticed it the other day. It makes me think of ice cream—peaches-and-cream ice cream, and I want to lick you to see if you taste how you smell.”

Shit. If his tongue touches me, I’m screwed, or not screwed but orgasmed. Is that a thing? It should be. And Owen Gallahanger can write the fucking book on how to do it.
