Apex (Born Villains MC Book 1)Apex by Bijou Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cyril “Apex” Tayback is the enforcer of the Born Villians MC. His MC is a bit unusual as it is a MC hat offers a safe haven for others who have been abused or need a fresh start. Recently though his MC has endured a betrayal that has left them shaken. When he is sent on a search errand, he is not thrilled by the task but a woman has shown up claiming she needs Papa Bear’s help and they want to find out if she is on the up and up. Papa Bear is the one who set up the sanctuary, so Apex finds the woman who went by the name Giselle. The problem is she has no memory of what happened and who she is. Apex falls hard for the beautiful woman but can he trust her?

This was very good but had a lot of characters that had chapters dedicated to specifically them. I am definitely intrigued by this series and really enjoyed Apex and Giselle’s story.

3. Mairi does not have a voice.

She is about to learn that none of these things have to be true.

From twisted wynds and tartan shops to a dangerous daemon and malevolent ravens, the future of a tattered nation might lie with one solitary woman.

Things don’t usually come to a screeching halt at the RAT, also known as Ridgewood Arts & Technical School, Ridgewood City’s most prestigious progressive institution. But that’s what happens when Headmistress Hardaway interrupts class and announces, “A scandal has rocked the fundraising committee!” Everyone is a suspect and Hunter Jackson, student council special investigator, vows to root out the student who’s heartless enough to steal donation money. He’s not alone. Ridgewood Roar news editor, Anthony Ravello, and the rogue, indie-press pioneer, Liberty Lennon, plan to do some journalistic digging of their own in a race against each other to scoop the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth to their faithful readers…or at least their versions of it. With the truth getting murkier by the day, students at the RAT gobble up news bytes and wash them down with locker-side gossip as they try to unmask the classmate responsible for the missing funds.

Fire & Ink: Wolf (Inked #1)Fire & Ink: Wolf by Emily Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wolf Wild meets his new neighbor Ember Rose and knows he wants her, but he is not a man who wans a commitment. When she shows up for a tattoo it becomes a game change though. The more he gets to know his neighbor, the more he questions if she is the one. The only problem in their path though is his callous family who are trying to interfere. Wolf though has his heart set on Ember and he doesn’t plan to let her go.

Great beginning to new series. Liked all the characters in this one and had some laugh out loud moments. Terrific chemistry.

The Untold Journey

Memoir

Date Published: June 22, 2021

Publisher: Mamiir Chol Foundation

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

As a member of the Lost Boys of South Sudan, author Paulino Mamiir Chol offers the gripping account of his transformation from a kidnapping survivor to a leader— Mr. Chol led over 700 boys across three African countries.

Paulino Mamiir Chol was abducted from his family, in the Twic County of Warrap state. Over the course of seventeen harrowing years, he survived Ethiopian and Kenyan refugee camps, and eventually made it to Denver, Colorado, in the United States of America, where he now pursues a PhD.

In detailing the journeys of the Lost Boys, as well as the murderous actions of the Murahalin Militia before and after the Second Sudanese Civil War, Mr. Chol paints a vivid picture of one of modern history’s most horrific human rights abuses. In so doing, he also offers hope in the power of the human spirit to overcome trauma and tragedy—especially when we focus on serving others.

Leading The Lost Boys: The Untold Journey is part of Paulino Mamiir Chol’s effort to fight the inhuman darkness we are all capable of, and to empower and inspire the hearts of those suffering.

All proceeds will go to the Mamiir Chol Foundation (MACH), which will provide funds to villagers in Twic County for clean drinking wells, clinics, schools, and community centers. Proceeds will also support organizations working for human rights, homeless children, widowed mothers, disabled people, and to protect women and girls from sexual abuse, exploitation and gender-based violence.

Honor & Ink: Talon (Inked #2)Honor & Ink: Talon by Emily Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Talon has wanted Piper since the minute he met her, but his family is trying to gain access to his inherited trust and will go to any length to get it even if it means harming others. There is another Talon has not taken a chance with Piper, he suffers from PTSD and believes Piper is better off without him. What he doesn’t plan for though is Piper laying it all out there and not giving up on what she wants and that is Talon. Can he keep her protected when a threat against her becomes very real?

This one is a bit of a heartbreaker at times. Talon carries the weight of the world on his shoulders and although he is surrounded by people who have his back he keeps to himself. Loved Piper and her family is a hoot. Great series.

“A headstrong Portuguese meets her match in the arrogant Englishman who threatens her beloved vineyards. Dive deep into Portugal’s rich culture in this intoxicating story about wine and love.”

Portugal, 1870

Butterfly Bayou (Butterfly Bayou, #1)Butterfly Bayou by Lexi Blake
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After a tragic incident at work, Lila Daley leaves Dallas and moves to Papillion, Louisiana to start a new job at a local clinic. On the first day she meets Sheriff Armie LaVigne who pulls her over for speeding, granted the reason for the speeding was a huge gator in the road. Armie though is intrigued by the no nonsense Lila but given more time together he finds himself completely enthralled. The only problem is that Lila wants something with Armie but she has always has put others first and kept herself at a distance. Can she learn to find a new normal while finding the love of her life?

This was a wonderful story. Liked the chemistry, the quirky characters and the animal sidekicks. Armie is a charmer, you are swept away by him. Definitely reading more of this series.

Reaper's BansheeReaper’s Banshee by Ciara St. James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

From the moment Reaper meets Cheyenne at a medical clinic he is intrigued. The beautiful woman isn’t at all interested in being with a biker though. Reaper knows there is more to it though and he plans to get close to Cheyenne. When something happens to Cheyenne though Reaper is by her side protecting her. Cheyenne is willing to give Reaper a chance, but her past has her afraid of trusting. Reaper though proves that he is worth her trust, but what happens when her past comes back to haunt her?

Great beginning to new series. I have been waiting for Reaper’s story and this one did not disappoint. Really liked Cheyenne, her story is quite unique and I found myself fascinated by her. Looking forward to the next book to come.
