The Midnight LibraryThe Midnight Library by Matt Haig
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nora Seed believes she has nothing left to live for and decides to end her life. What she doesn’t expect is to have her path put her on a different path one where she can choose the type of life she may want, but will she find what she is looking for?

This was different then what I usually read, I have to say it was pretty good. I liked the idea of getting a second chance or two at what if’s. I thought this was well written and takes a heavy subject and has Nora exploring possibilities all the while remembering her life the way it was. Definitely made you think.

Treacherous (Carter Kids #1)Treacherous by Chloe Walsh
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Teagan Connoly agreed to one year in America until she can be off on her own. She doesn’t expect to have an enemy next door. Noah Messina is bad news and his step sister is even worse. Teagan knows she should stay away and even when things get incredibly ugly she finds herself drawn to him. Noah has done his best to keep Teagan at a distance but danger is his life, can he keep Teagan safe?

So has a bit of a cliffhanger ending which I had not expected. I liked aspects of this but the nastiness from the get go seemed a bit too much at times. Was not quite what I expected, I probably would check out more in this series but need to set time aside to read from book one to two right away.

Review: Blaze’s Spitfire by Ciara St. James

Blaze's SpitfireBlaze’s Spitfire by Ciara St. James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blaze returns to the Archangels Warriors and is not expecting to find the girl of his dreams, but he does and he mucks it up from the get go. Blaze has been burned before by a woman working in the auto shop and although Teagan is everything he wants in a woman, he doesn’t trust her. Quickly realizing he has read Teagan all wrong, he makes his move. The problem is though that while Blaze is ready to commit to Teagan he doesn’t exude I am a one woman man at all times and for some reason someone is after Teagan and no one can figure out why. Will Blaze be able to keep her safe?

I liked this but the story does have some sexual moments that are not in my comfort zone so distracted me a bit from the overall story. I thought the beginning of this was terrific, was really surprised about Teagan’s brother and how that part of the story unfolded. Anxious to see who is next up in this series.

Noah (Steel Patriots MC #11)Noah by Mary Kennedy
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Tru Blanchard has been trying to get back on her feet but for every step forward she takes a step back. She works hard but can’t seem to get ahead. Noah Anders notices Tru instantly and knows she is going to be his, the problem is Tru is gun shy and not sure she wants to take a chance on Noah. Noah though is not going to let her get away when she runs and he is going to do everything possible to protect her, can Tru find her happily ever after or is she bound to get burned?

This was fun but I think I needed to go back and read in order. A bit rushed in spots but overall entertaining.

Review: Soul of my Soul by Lisa Helen Gray

Soul of my Soul (Take a Chance, #1)Soul of my Soul by Lisa Helen Gray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The moment Lily Carter was brought into the Carter family she was treated like glass. Adopted by Maverick and Teagan and raised as there own, but the short life she led before that leaves her broken at times and triggers have a way of not being able to control even though she is careful about her environment.

Jaxon Hayes has always seen Lily and has held a crush on her, but she has always been untouchable. One night though changes everything and Jaxon decides that he is tired of denying his feelings for Lily and wants a shot with Lily, she is his game changer. The problem is that the Carter’s and Hayes are enemies and their love for one another is forbidden. They plan on bringing everyone into the fold but want some time to explore what they have, what happens though when the family finds out. Will it tear Lily’s family apart or make them stronger?

So I made the mistake, unbeknownst to me to read Maddox before Soul of my Soul. Lily and Jaxon story is a big plot point in Maddox book but you don’t know how or why they got together. This book fills you in and was an emotional read. Lily is stronger then what she is given credit for in previous books. Jaxon sees that with Lily and he treats her like gold but he also knows she has a back bone. Wonderful story, was better then what I expected given I had a glimpse previously into their story.

One More Time (Ruby Falls, #2)One More Time by Aurora Rose Reynolds
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Aria Heart returns home to Ruby Falls not really because of her family but because it is the only place she ever felt at home. Deciding on buying a house that needs more work than she was prepared for she ends up hiring Tide Goodman for some of the extra work she needs.

Tide remembers Aria, he was never close to her but knew she came from a wealthy family and was in no way in his league. However, Tide gets to know Aria and quickly realizes he likes everything about her. Aria is not ready to trust again but something about Tide has Aria wanting to take a chance. Can Tide who has been burned before find what he always hoped to have in a relationship with Aria?

Another phenomenal read from this author. I was curious as to what Tide’s story would be and it was more than I expected. Aria is terrific, she has been raised to be basically a show pony but has fond her own way and owns it. Wonderful story.

Shane is a highly sought after fashion photographer who has learned to keep his business purely professional. He doesn’t sleep with the models, nor does he have any interest in doing so as they are mostly either looking for a foot in the door to raise their status or vapid. When he sees Jane tagging along with her friend, he knows he wants to not only have her in his bed but see him through his camera lens.

Jane is used to following in her best friends footsteps and she is fine with being the shadow. However when Shane sees her and reaches out, she is stunned and happy. Shane wants to keep what is happening between them quiet for the time being but can she trust that he really wants a future with her?

This started off good but was so rushed and I did not understand the keeping it a secret. There were a few details I would have liked to had cleared up but overall a fun quickie.

Down Under (Aussies, #2)Down Under by Donna Alam
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Amber Hardy is backpacking her way around the world after realizing the life she was leading was not fulfilling. For her birthday she decides she wants a one night stand and she finds the perfect candidate.

Byron Phillips overhears Amber’s call and decides he certainly can help her out. What he doesn’t expect is his one night stand to show up on his doorstep applying for the nanny job with his mom. Byron knows this is not a good idea, but when circumstances leave her without another place to go, Byron relents. It is only a matter of time before lines are crossed and they act on it, but can it last?

This was fun. I enjoyed Amber’s spirit. The second meet between Amber and Byron was fun to read. I have to go back and read the rest of the books in the series. Great story.

Review: Reaper by K.L. Savage

Reaper (Ruthless Kings MC #1)Reaper by K.L. Savage
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Even though Reaper can’t deny his attraction to Sarah, he can’t go there. Sarah is the sister to Boomer and her father was Reaper’s best friend. If there is anyone that is off limits it is Sarah, not to mention she is only 17. Sarah though knows Reaper is the man for her and never questions he wants her until the day he makes it clear. Problem is it becomes more complicated when he acts on his attraction to her, can they find their own happily ever after or are they doomed to fail?

I wanted to like this but did not care for Sarah. With her only 17 she is throwing herself at Reaper and it was too much. It got better as the story went but just didn’t care much for the heroine.

Review: Playing For Keeps by Jessica Prince

Playing for Keeps (Hope Valley #10)Playing for Keeps by Jessica Prince
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Charlotte Belmont has had a life filled with regrets and wrong decisions but after a man she thought she trusted turned out to be another vile mistake, Charlotte did everything she could to fix it. It ended up almost costing her her life, but she has knows she has righted a wrong. During that time though she was put under Dalton Prescott’s care to keep her protected, until she took matters into her own hands.

Months later Dalton still wants answers as to why Charlotte ran. Problem is Charlotte keeps pushing him away and although Dalton is biding his time though. He knows Charlotte is meant to be his but Charlotte has walls he is trying to knock down. What happens when Charlotte does take a chance on Dalton, cans she trust him fully or will it hold her back?

I wasn’t sure if I would like Charlottes story as she was introduced in the previous book and you didn’t really have a lot of her back history. I was thrown for a loop with Charlotte, she is a wonderful character who just has had no one really by her side. Dalton was different then what I expected he is honed in solely on Charlotte and sees all of her and the wonderful person she is. Amazing story.
