Georgia Lavine always tries to let her happy personality shine through and when she lands a job with Liam Baxter she knows she has her work cut out for her. Liam’s surly demeanor and threats of punishment have Georgia acting outside her normal self and finding ways for Liam to implement those punishments. Even bringing her cat, Mr. Grumpy pants to work with her.
Liam has a plan, a plan that includes getting revenge against Georgia’s dad. Georgia has no clue that Liam has lured her into a trap where she will lose but he had not planned for her to knock him off his feet and fall hard for the radiant beauty.
This was hilarious. Georgia is a bit naive and I think in her world it is sunshine and rainbows, which is complete opposite of Liam’s personality. The chemistry is great and pretty much every scene with Georgia brings a few laughs.
I tend to gravitate towards books that have food in them. I like reading what the characters are cooking and often get a little inspiration on something to make for my meal plan for the week.
This week I picked Until Harmony which is one of my favorite books in the Until Her/Him series. In this book we have Harmony who is sweet as can be and Harlen who is pure alpha male who has been biding his time getting close to Harmony. Where Harmony is concerned though Harlen puts her on a pedestal and gives her a different side to his blunt exterior. In one of the best scenes in the book Harmony’s mother Sophie shows up at her house in the morning and Harlen is there. Harlen makes them waffles for breakfast and wins over Sophie. I have sampled quite a few waffles in my day but this is the best one I have had.
Harmony Mayson is moving back home. After finishing college and getting a job at the hospital, Harmony is able to be back with her family. Harmony is a planner, she plans everything and she also has a crush on Harlan MacCabe, she is not expecting him to be interested in her but that doesn’t stop her from letting him befriend her.
Harlan has been waiting for Harmony to return home, now he gets the chance he has been waiting for to pursue her. Only problem is Harmony appears to be clueless about his feelings for her. When a moment of carefree impulse takes over Harmony and she lets Harlan know she is interested it doesn’t go quite as planned. Harlan is not backing down where Harmony is concerned, even though Harmony’s father, Nico, is intent on keeping him away from his daughter.
There is a lot more to the story but I just detailed a few of the highlights. Loved Harmony, she is the type of person that tries to have everything neatly planned out and sometimes life doesn’t let you do that. Harlan oozed alpha male, he is so protective of Harmony and patient as well. Couldn’t get enough of this couple and it only got better as Nico came into the picture. Nico is one of my favorite characters in the Until series and he did not disappoint. Can’t wait for what is next.
Marek has been living with his six brothers protecting the gates to the Underworld. Daemons are determined to gain access and create havoc and they spend their time hunting vampires as well. On one of his hunts though, Marek ends up finding Caterina who peaks his interest. His interest though is hindered a bit by the secrets both are holding and Caterina’s is a big one that could have Marek turning on her, will he?
What I like about the characters in Guardians of Hades series is that the men have issues they have to come to grips with. A lot of this style books you don’t see that vulnerability in the male characters as they ooze confidence and alpha male all over the place, there is a hidden depth to this author’s character which I appreciate. I liked Caterina a lot, she was a perfect match to Marek. Another great read in this series.
Austin Poet and author, John Baltisberger, (ARTIFICE OF FLESH, THE CONFIGURATION DISCORDANT) makes his St Rooster Books debut with a powerful kaiju novella full of Jewish mysticism, death, and destruction.
When a good man is senselessly murdered during Chicago’s Gay pride event, Satan summons a horrifying monster of old, releasing both his anger and the monster in defiance of Heaven and humanity.
BLOOD & MUD includes an essay on Jewish occultism and mythology, revealing the rich tapestry of mystery and history that inspired Baltisberger and this harrowing novella.
John never thought he would write horror or darker fiction, he was planning on writing fantasy. But something about setting all of the occult and fantastical elements of fantasy just behind the backdrop of the modern world appealed to him, and he wanted to introduce the world to the incredible mythology of mythic Judaism.
He spends his time squirreled away fervently working on the next book or engaging in the ‘Obliterate the Globe’ project, only taking breaks to record episodes of Madness Heart Radio and Wandering Monster, or to eat, or to play with puppies. John lives with his patient and gorgeous wife Desiree, and maniacal and powerful daughter Aziza. You can find him and the project at http://www.KaijuPoet.com

The Name of Red is the story of two strangers, two different personalities who meet on a winter, rainy night who challenge each other. They have a connection which blossoms into a friendship due to their fondness of books. But they both have secrets that can bind them together or threaten their newfound relationship forever.

I’m a young author from Chicago, I’m hoping to bring some new heat and sizzle to the romance genre.
My favorite genres are paranormal and dark romance. I love reading a good book but I’m so busy in life that I only get to enjoy audio books. Its the only way I can get lost in a good book nowadays. And you know what? I half prefer an audio book over print any day! I have a long standing membership at Audible.com and I plan to publish audio books for busy bookworms like myself! Yay!
My love of writing started when a friend of mine encouraged me to write a short story and just see what happens. Turns out I had a knack for writing because everyone loved my short stories. From then on I have worked on improving my craft. Growing from flash fictions to novellas. I am really looking forward to sharing all the twisty goodness I have planned!

Keenan is a man who has to be in complete control, his childhood left scars that even though he has pushed through all the obstacles in his way they still haunt him. Keenan is fascinated by Khloe, he doesn’t want to be but everything about her entices him and his demon. They want Khloe, but Keenan is fighting against the urge to be with her because he knows she has the potential to destroy him if it went bad.
Khloe doesn’t want Keenan, well she does but he drinks a lot and she believes him to be an alcoholic. A wager is made and Khloe believes Keenan will succumb to drinking but she doesn’t realize Keenan could care less of having a drink. Khloe and Keenan ignite with one another but will Keenan be able to walk away when Khloe is put in danger?
I was so anxious for this book. Absolutely loved every minute and this one made me shed a few tears. Keenan and Khloe are a fascinating couple and I loved how Keenan embraces everything Khloe, he doesn’t try to tame her which is wonderful. Keenan was better then I expected, I thought he was broody but when he opens up to Khloe …WOWZA. Amazing read, everything I wanted and more.
Do you like to see your favorite books become adapted for television or film? I tend to like to read the book before it gets put in production because my interpretation of the story is envisioned in my mind matches the adaptation. Some are hits and miss on how it comes across and some are pleasant surprises. What book did you enjoy that was made into a film/tv that you thought was just as you imagined?
This week focusing on the film version of City of Bones. I really enjoyed the film, liked the casting and had wished they would make the other books. I have watched some of the Shadowhunters tv series but have not finished them yet.
Fifteen year old Clary Fray has always felt he didn’t quite fit in, that something was always missing in her life. Her closest friend Simon has always been by her side, but as he is about to reveal something important to her she finds herself seeing things that are not possible. Clary finds herself pulled into a life filled with everything imaginable from vampires to werewolves, Clary finds herself drawn to Shadowhunter Jace Wayden whose slick retorts are infuriating yet bring them closer together. Faced with a mountain of untruths about her past, Clary’s mother has been kidnapped and the only one who can save her is Clary with help from Jace and the other Shadowhunters, as well as Simon.
Brilliant read, I was pulled in quickly and not disappointed at all by the book.
Typically, my daily routine is to get up, enjoy my hot chocolate, go to
work at my book store, go home, cook, clean, read a book and go to bed.
Simple. Relaxing. Calm.
But not all days go as planned.
Nope. Some days, you get up, have your morning hot chocolate, go to work,
head home only to be portalled to another world. I’ve done my best to
try to fit in. But while changing my clothes seemed reasonable, sharing a
bed with their king put an entirely new level of complication on things.
Try to sort out your day when that happens. Especially when nobody in your
new surroundings knows how you got there, let alone how to get you home.
