Neo's Strength (Devil's Riot MC: Originals, #8)Neo’s Strength by E.C. Land
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Harley experienced something no woman would want to go through and she finds herself slipping. When another incident has her pushing those close to her away, she ends up taking a drastic measure and Neo ends up finding her. Neo ends up being Harley’s rock but she needs to find her own strength as well.

This was good but I think I needed to read the previous books to make sense of everything that was going on. Tough subject to read about but well written.

Dream Spinner (Dream Team, #3)Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hattie Yates knows that Axl Pantera wants to date her, her friend and co-worker has been trying to set them up for awhile but Hattie has enough in her life going on and a Father who has made her question her self worth. Axl is furious with Hattie and blows up at her but what he doesn’t realize is the reasons why Hattie is pushing everyone away. When Axl finds out though he is not pleased and realizes that she also has a stalker he steps in and decides to keep her safely by his side.

Fantastic, Loved every moment of this story. Hattie is a hot mess emotionally but an unlikely ally helps her seeing what is right in front of her Axl is pure alpha male and I enjoyed the fact that he is so blunt. Terrific read.

Unrest smolders in a galaxy where most citizens endure the oppressive society of the Northrite corporation.

Run by six masked council members, the Northrite exploit the powers of Elemiscists—those with magical abilities—and keep them as indentured servants. When a nearby sun turns blood red and begins pulsing, people flee their homes, and the millennia-old government is plunged into chaos. Six diverse individuals from across the galaxy become entwined in a struggle for survival and to overthrow the Northrite corporation.

These six share a strange dream: a figure composed only of shadow, holding the pulsing red sun in its palm. Jaycken is an audacious and sarcastic young military recruit who dreams of harnessing Elemiscist powers, and Rynn is a sheltered but perceptive young woman who flees her home planet in search of her missing mother. Nyranna is a cunning Elemiscist slave, seeking to free her people from oppression, and Seeva, an operative and activist, tracks down a branch of the Northrite corporation that funds poachers and decimates endangered creatures for profit. Elion is a morbid bounty hunter, and Cirx is a medieval knight who seeks revenge for the death of his people.

Sexy Scoundrel (A Cocky Hero Club Novel)Sexy Scoundrel by Raisa Greywood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Carlina Perez is a chef whose talent is unparalled, unfortunately she is working for her ex who doesn’t have a clue as to run his restaurant. She knew it was only a matter of time before he fired her and now she is getting a chance to achieve her own dreams. That said when her friend asks to take in a Lion an a couple other animals, she steps up. All this coincides though with Giorgio Acardi, a cocky thorn in her side who wants to buy her land.

Giorgio happens to be at the restaurant that Carlina works at and ends up taking home one of her desserts. For the first time his brother Antonio is willing to eat something different then junk food. Giorgio wants Carlina to cook for his brother and when they show up, Carlina instantly finds a kinship with Antonio. Problem is Giorgio is not used to being irrelevant and stuffs up the meeting by being a jerk. After much negotiation Carlina agrees to have Antonio work her farm as well as blossom with her tutelage. Giorgio is willing to do whatever he needs to, even stay away, to have his brother happy but when an accident happens, Giorgio ends up getting closer to Carlina and finds he may never let her go.

I liked this, I thought the chef angle got thrown to the side a bit but overall a really good story. I loved the interactions with Antonio and found that Giorgio was terrific when out of his element. Definitely would try out more from this author.

My Little Farm GirlMy Little Farm Girl by Jordan Silver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gabriella loved her parents but she knew one thing she did not want to spend her life working the farm. She wanted to go and find her own path and when her Mom calls in a favor from an old high school friend, she finds herself becoming an assistant to the woman. She has no clue the woman doesn’t want her there or the nasty temperament she has.

Callan O’Rourke knew he made a mistake when he slept with his now ex, but she is still trying to reel him back and has him picking up what she refers to a hayseed at the train station. The instant he sees Gabriella he knows he wants her beauty is breathtaking and her innocence has him charmed. When he realizes he needs to set things in motion to get her out of the claws of his ex, he acts swiftly but will this natural born submissive be able to take all he wants to give?

This reminded me a bit of Devil Wears Prada as far as the plot line where Gabriella is concerned. God story, had a few things that I scratched my head at but overall entertaining.

Rebels' FirecrackerRebels’ Firecracker by Ciara St. James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

However when danger lurks it ramps up his intention of claiming Madisen as his old lady. Can he protect her though and will her insecurities wreck havoc for their relationship.

This was another great read. I liked how this story unfolded and you got a chance to know more characters who I am eager to read their stories. Another fantastic MC read.

Review: Don’t Call Me Cupcake by Tara Sheets

Don't Call Me Cupcake (The Holloway Girls, #1)Don’t Call Me Cupcake by Tara Sheets
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Emma Holloway is struggling to keep her family business, Fairy Cakes and her ancestral home from from being taken away from her. Although her cupcakes have a little bit of magic in each one, she needs to increase her revenue and when she finds out the business across the street she is livid especially after the new owner, Hunter Kane came in and bought some of her magical cupcakes.

Hunter doesn’t know what it is about the crazy woman who berated him about her cupcakes but he can’t stop himself from being attracted to her. When Hunter is paired with Emma to plan the festival he tries to get a read on her, but she is her own brand of crazy and quite irresistible if he is honest with himself. Through in a little spell to keep Hunter away, a crazy ex-boyfriend and a house that has a mind of it’s own and you have the making of a hilariously charming story.

I enjoyed every moment of this story. Hunter is big city and Emma is small coastal town with a quirky personality. I thought this was original and a ton of fun to read. Great story and I lok forwrd to the next book.

Review: Bastian by Leah Sharelle

Bastian (Wounded Sons, #2)Bastian by Leah Sharelle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bastian Johnston has been in love with his best friend Wren Hickey since they were still in school, but he has always been in the friend zone with Wren. Wren doesn’t believe Bastian is attracted to her and that he sees her only as a friend and after years of being just friends is surprised to find out that Bastian sees her more then friends. The only problem is that someone has been intent to keep them apart, can they overcome the act of betrayal or will they only ever be friends?

There is a bunch more to this story but the gist is a friends to lover story. I loved Wren and Bastian, Bastian is so in his head and has bided his time with Wren and Wren has some questions that need answering. I was a bit surprised on how the betrayal and aftermath unfolded but overall really good story.

Review: Don’t Go Away Mad by Lacey Black

Don't Go Away Mad (Burgers and Brew Crüe #2)Don’t Go Away Mad by Lacey Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jasper knows he is demanding, the high turnover in his kitchen proves that but he wants perfection with every burger he serves. When he finds out that his former nemesis, Lyndee from college, is setting up a bakery across the street he is not pleased. He believes she is there to create havoc, he couldn’t be more wrong. Jasper can’t seem to stay away from Lyndee and the more he gets to know her the more he wants to sleep with her, but Jasper is not a relationship type of guy but could he be with Lyndee?

This was great, very different then the first book in the series. I thought this was a lot of fun and Jasper spends a lot of time in his head, he is driven but when he decides to take a chance with Lyndee you see a completely different side. Wonderful story.
