The Sweetest Revenge (Pregnancy Affair, #2)The Sweetest Revenge by Jordan Silver
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Zane Cordon was stunned when he found out his wife of ten years had been getting rid of the pregnancies she was having. He didn’t know she was even pregnant and the more he began to dig into what she was doing the more he found she had been unfaithful as well. Zane decided to exact revenge in a slowly timed manner, but he did not expect to meet Elena Patriakas. Elena quickly becomes his everything but will she be willing to wait until his divorce is final?

Overall liked the story but did not like that he was still married when he gets together with Elena, even though he is separated even though his wife doesn’t know yet. Fun quickie.

Review: Mated To The Capo by Georgette St. Clair

Mated To The Capo (Mafia Shifters Book 1)Mated To The Capo by Georgette St. Clair
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zoey Eastgate knows she is in trouble when her latest gig at work ended up with her butt bit by a Shifter Capo from the Blood Oath Pack. The moon-bite has Dominic Lombardi waiting to claim Zoey as his mate. The only problem is that Zoey is not interested in being his mate. Dominic is not put off though as he has a plan to woo his mate. Problem is someone is causing problems in the pack and it might put Zoey in danger.

This was a lot of fun. Completely different then other shifter books. I thought Dominic was suave and Zoey is a complete nut. Wonderful read, refreshing.

My Holiday JoyMy Holiday Joy by Jordan Silver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Joyann Reese moved to her Aunt who passed away, small town home after graduating college. She knows it was not the wise choice within her family, but she knew it was the right choice for her. She didn’t exactly plan on having the local Lothario living next door, Devlin Monroe is all man. He is also the only man to get under her skin and she does her best to avoid him.

Joyann is nothing like Devlin’s type but for some reason his interest is peaked and he can’t seem to stop wanting to get her hackles up. What he didn’t expect was to become addicted to her, or that she was quickly becoming the most important person to him. The self proclaimed bachelor is about to find his heart taken by the girl next door.

This was a lot of fun. I liked Devlin, he seemed truly unnerved by his attraction to Joyann. This was a fun holiday treat.

Release Date: February 21, 2019

Model: Chris Connolly

Synopsis

Noah Wright was not the man for me.

Tall, sexy and beautiful. He drew attention everywhere he went.
While all I wanted was to blend in—fade into the background.

Nope, Noah Wright was definitely not the man for me.

I’d heard the rumors and seen the women. He was a player, who flaunted his conquests for all to see.

Noah Wright was not for me.
Except… he was the first man to make my thighs clench and my core flutter.
Giving in to temptation once couldn’t hurt, right? I just had to avoid being seen in public with him. Easy, right? Simple.
And it was.
Until I found out the rumors about Noah Wright were wrong, and the truth… the truth was so much worse.

Excerpt

Embarrassed.

That’s how I felt as I sat in Mr. Taylor’s office, watching as he read through my job application. He hadn’t looked at me since I handed it to him. And even then, it had only been a couple of seconds of eye contact. No smile. No greeting. He gave nothing away.

Neither did his office. It was modern, black and white and gray, with a sterile quality to it, like an operating room, and just as chilly—a welcomed reprieve from the August afternoon heat. I’d spent all day driving up and down the PCH, and to say my thirteen year old car’s air conditioner wasn’t up to battling the scorching temperature would be an understatement. The sweat soaked fabric clinging to my back and underarms was proof of that.

But it wasn’t the fact I was sitting in front of a seriously attractive man wearing a sweat stained dress, or the fact I’d scuffed my white Chuck Taylor’s on the floor when I walked in, making that horrible high pitched screeching sound, it wasn’t even the fact that I was a newly college drop-out that had me wishing the floor would open up and swallow me whole. Nope.

I was ashamed to be applying for a job—of needing a job. If anyone recognized me, it would be the same as publicly announcing failure. My failure. My parents failure. And I was terrified of seeing the fall from grace headlines and becoming a cautionary tale.

I was embarrassed to be me.

I never had been before.

And I never wanted to be again.

And that’s why I needed the job.

I needed to make enough money to get us out of the mess we were in.

Taking a deep breath, I shifted in my chair, then ran my hands down my thighs, unnecessarily smoothing out the skirt of my dress—the dress I had purchased to feign grieving for a recently deceased relative. It was a black cap sleeved, fit and flare style dress, probably too dressy for an interview at a gym.

Not that it mattered, because Mr. Taylor still hadn’t looked at me.

And that was the plan, to go unnoticed. To be invisible. And that was no easy feat with my nearly platinum hair, ivory skin, and baby blue eyes. But with my waves straightened and make-up free, I created a bright, pale spot that most people were uncomfortable looking at. I’d been asked on more than one occasion if I was albino.

I wasn’t. But you get the idea.

As the minutes ticked by, Mr. Taylor’s imposing presence, dispassionate expression and utter silence were starting to make me paranoid.

Was lying on a job application a felony?

It was really just a few… embellishments.

Work experience, ability to be responsible, name…

He finally laid my web of lies to the side and looked at me. His gaze was shrewd and accessing.

“You really need a job?” His voice was surprisingly kind, as if he pitied me. Or was about to give me a heart felt fuck-off kid.

Panic welled inside me.

I had applied at five other places, and been turned down at all of them. The gym was the last viable option for me; no more than thirty minutes from home, not open to the public, full-time, and decent pay. I needed this job.

“Yes, I need a job. I’ll take anything,” I rushed out, sounding pathetic. “I can start today.”

Without a word, he stood, motioning for me to follow him.

Book Blitz: The Cowboy’s Forgetful Bride by Leslie North

The Cowboy’s Forgetful Bride
Leslie North
(Brothers of the Cooper Ranch, #1)
Publication date: December 27th 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Bella Whitmore is the heir to the Whitmore Shipping fortune. Refusing to be pigeon-holed into the socialite box, Bella has worked her entire life to show her father that she can be the son he never had and take over the Whitmore Shipping Empire. So when she wakes up, on a ranch in Montana, missing the memories of the last month of her life, you’d think that would be the worst case scenario. And it is…until she realizes the devil she’d worked so hard to avoid for the last year is now her husband.

Sawyer Cooper knows he’s a devil. Handsome, charismatic, and with an eye for feeding people’s vices, Sawyer’s reinvented himself as a shark in the business world, but very few realize that he’s actually a Cooper of the Country Coop fortune. But rather than resting on the laurels (and red-neck reputation) of Country Coop, Sawyer wants to show the world exactly how important farming can be. To do this, he needs Bella Whitmore’s help. Every bit as beautiful as her name suggests, and smarter than everyone else in the room, Sawyer knows that she could make his dreams come true, both inside and outside of the bedroom. And after a year of pursuing her, she’s finally said yes — to everything.

But after a horseback riding accident, Bella’s brain has reset back to the beginning, and Sawyer was never good at starting a game over. Especially not after he’d already won. Now, Sawyer needs to figure out how to woo her for a second time. Because this time around it’s not just his professional pride on the line: it’s his heart.

Goodreads / Amazon

—

EXCERPT:

She had a lot of nerve to show up looking so goddamned gorgeous and not deign to give him the time of day.

Sawyer Cooper liked nerve.

Their game had been going on for the better part of a year now. Function after function, they would circle each other—or more accurately, he would circle, like a wolf closing in on an unsuspecting pronghorn—and when he had all but backed her into a corner, she would finally turn to acknowledge him with a show of polite surprise.

God, their game of cat and mouse turned him on more than he had ever imagined it would. He’d been crossing paths with her since he settled in Boston, and she was one of the reasons he’d stayed so long, even enduring stuffy events like this one. He liked to keep his distance from Montana anyway—and the family business he wanted no part of. The Country Coop chain of farm stores was his family’s legacy; it was an empire, all right, but in a family of three brothers, could you ever really be the undisputed king of it? No, Sawyer wanted to make his own waves in the world, and that meant divorcing himself completely from Country Coop and its redneck reputation.

Sawyer wanted a lot of things, but he had never wanted to bed a woman as thoroughly—and hopefully repeatedly—as he wanted to bed Bella. Problem was, the vixen knew it. How could she be oblivious, when Sawyer himself made it so obvious? He had done everything except outright ask her for a romp between the sheets. He still had some shred of pride, despite Bella’s persistent ability to test it.

Looking like that, tonight just might be the night she brought him to his knees.

Author Bio:

Leslie North is the pen name for a critically-acclaimed author of women’s contemporary romance and fiction. The anonymity gives her the perfect opportunity to paint with her full artistic palette, especially in the romance and erotic fantasy genres.

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren’t afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

Leslie fell in love with romance when she first picked up a scrappy, dog-eared romance book from her local library. She began writing soon after and the rest, as they say, was history. She now lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast and enjoys taking long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

She LOVES reader feedback, and if you have any comments, don’t hesitate to contact her via e-mail: leslie@leslienorthbooks.com.

Goodreads

Excerpt

“Don’t be an asshole, Jaxon Mayer. I’m tired, okay?” she states, giving me the look. Shit, I’m in trouble. I drunkenly cuddle her, then tickle her—a foolproof plan when she is crabby. Giggles escape her mouth, and I wrap her in my arms as we dance for a bit.

Two hours later, it’s two a.m., and most of the people are leaving.

“Time to call it a night, mister,” she announces with a yawn and a raise of her eyebrows. I throw my arms around her and snuggle into her neck. Yep, I’m ready for bed with this one.

“I have cash, Jax, so I’ll call a cab,” she tells me, digging into her bag for her cell.

“Don’t be silly, guys. I’ve had three drinks, and I’m driving a block farther than you, so jump in,” Scotty declares, unlocking his Jeep with Boyd and Lucas behind him.

“Jaxon, he’s had more than three. He was drinking most the night,” Em whispers to me, but I’m pretty intoxicated, so I don’t listen. He’s talking fine to me, and it’s like ten miles away, so it will be okay.

“It will be fine, baby. Trust me,” I tell her and distract her with a sweet kiss.

“God, Jax, you absolutely reek of beer, and I can taste the bitterness on your breath,” she tells me, scrunching up her face as we climb in the back seat. Lucas stumbles in next to me and cracks open another Budweiser and downs it.

“Want the other, bro?” he slurs, showing me the Budweiser can, but I shake my head.

“I’m a lightweight compared to you regular alchos,” I reply, and it’s true. I’m sure with one more, I would either pass out or spew, and both options would suck. They all chuckle with laughter.

“Yeah, Jacko, we gotta be better than you at something, bro.” Boyd snickers.

I smile at his comment, then put my hand on Emily’s knee. I gaze at her face and realize she looks agitated as she fidgets with her seat belt. “What’s up?” I ask her.

“I have a bad feeling, Jax. Can we just get a cab home?”

I don’t even have a chance to answer her before all the doors close and Scotty speeds off.

“Shit man, can you slow down a little?” I shout, but the blasting music drowns out my words.

I shrug my shoulders at her and smile. As I said, it’s not far.

Lucas is singing along to Tumbawumba. “I get knocked down, but I get up again, you ain’t ever gonna keep me down.” I find myself swaying along as it’s a damn catchy song. Em puts her head on my shoulder and closes her eyes. I’m relieved she’s finally relaxed.

Lucas uncomfortably slides into me as Scotty takes the sharp corner faster than he should. I should be accustomed to his crazy driving, but he still manages to surprise me.

“Shit, man, take it easy,” I shout over the loud stereo.

Next thing I know, he’s taking another sharp corner, and the steering wheel locks. The tires burn rubber on the road, and a loud screech echoes over the music. The car is jolted sideways and slams into something hard. My head knocks into Lucas’s, and shit, that hurt.

Then it all goes dark.

When I wake, my eyes are heavy, and I blink to adjust as it’s still dark outside. I pull and struggle as my seat belt is restricting me, then I realize we are still in the freaking car. I’ve lost the ability to speak, and I’m in shock as realization sets in that the car has crashed. My heartbeat is racing, and my hands feel clammy. I unclick my seat belt as I struggle to get free. My neck is jarred, and I have whiplash. The music isn’t on anymore, and the motor must be dead as it’s eerily silent.

“Jaxon.” I hear Emily’s frantic voice.

Jesus Christ is all I can think as I turn and see she is trapped by the broken glass on her window. Then I notice the passenger seat has also come loose and is pushing against her.

Tears stream down her face, and she has a split lip and is shrieking in fear. “I’m stuck, help me,” she wails. I’m overwhelmed with fear and suddenly immobile. There’s blood, and I’m still drunk. Shit.

I literally have no idea what to do. She can’t be moved. Shit.

I inhale a deep breath. Focus. She’s the one who should be scared.

Be her rock, Jaxon. You have to be the rock that keeps her calm and still. Do it for her, for your love.

I supportively hold her shaking hand. “It will be okay, Em. I’ve got your hand, and I’m here. I won’t leave your side, I promise,” I declare as I caress her trembling fingers. Her crying eases a little, but it doesn’t stop.

For the Blood
Debbie Cassidy
(For the Blood, #1)
Publication date: December 27th 2018
Genres: Adult, Post-Apocalyptic, Romance, Urban Fantasy

Stay alive at all costs. No attachments, no looking back, no emotion.

The last thing my father gave me was a key. No explanation, no details, just a key. The last thing he asked of me was to take the key to a set of co-ordinates. But survival in a fallen world filled with Feral isn’t easy. The Fangs and the Claws, once upstanding members of society are now slave to the virus, hunting indiscriminately under a perpetually full moon.

There is no hope. There is no haven. Not alone. Not until them.

They are a new breed of monster—beasts of both fang and fur. Unaffected by the sickness, they crave only one thing, and it runs through my veins. Survive, my father said. Look out for no one except yourself. But sometimes the only way to survive is to make attachments. Sometimes the only way to live is to accept a dance with death. And right now, for me, the path to survival is in the blood.
Here’s to hoping it doesn’t kill me.

The Vampire Diaries meets The Walking Dead in this Post-Apocalyptic Urban Fantasy with a slow burn Why Choose romance

Goodreads / Amazon

—

EXCERPT:

Had the stars always been this bright? Or maybe impending death was lifting a veil from my eyes. The steady pump of my blood seeping out of my many wounds and into the dry, cracked earth and my ragged, irregular breath were the only sounds in the cold, still night. The Feral were down, but they’d taken me with them.

Laughter bubbled up my throat, a sound filled with life, if only I could move.

It would be over soon. No more fighting. No more loss. No more pain. The stars called to me, and I watched, counting them as my vision blurred in and out of focus, as my life blood fled my body as if it were a curse. How long before a person bled out?

Sunshine and the scent of freshly cut grass. Kisses, sweet kisses and toffee popcorn, hot cocoa under the stars in the compound garden… Memories of safer times. Happy memories that usually made me feel better, but nope, sorry, still feeling bad.

So sorry, Tobias. So sorry, Dad.

The crunch of boots echoed through the silence, invasive and intrusive. A shadow fell over me. Cold hands touched my face and startling gray eyes blocked out the stars.

The Fang from the storeroom, the one who’d bit me. Uninfected but hungry. Was he going to finish me off? But he was surveying the land around me, his brow creased in a neat frown. He was big, and his rugged, stubbled face hid the perfectly formed lips that had sucked on my neck not long ago.

“You Fang …” The word ended in a slur. “Bit me …”

His attention snapped back to me, and his eyes shone like pennies in the dark. I reached up with a strength I didn’t know I had and touched his chilly jaw. My fingers, deathly pale against his tanned skin, left a bloody trail as they slipped away. My blood had put color back in his cheeks and now that same blood was seeping into the ground, wasted. Was it getting darker?

Arms slipped under me, and my body was torn from the cold, dead earth. Where his hands had been chilled, his body was warm. He cradled me against a wide, muscular chest, and the heat seeped into me, reviving, urging me to live. The scent of cedar competed with the coppery smell of my blood. His nostrils flared, and then he pulled me close, dipped his head, and swept a rough tongue over the wound at my neck. The wound he’d made. Fire shot through me, searing my veins and tearing a hoarse scream from my throat. His mouth latched onto me and horror swelled my heart.

No. Not again. But there was no bite. No draw of blood. This wasn’t the kiss of death, it was life.

Drawn Into Love (Fluke My Life #4)Drawn Into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Courtney Williams is starting over, she was burned by her ex and has moved to Manhattan to start her new beginning. She didn’t expect to meet Lucas Fremont, the architect who is remodeling her house, and he throws her for a loop. Courtney was not looking for love but might of just found it with Lucas

Wonderful read. I loved every aspect of this book and wanted more. I had been curious about Lucas since he was introduced in Running Into Love. Loved Courtney, she is adorable and every moment you spend reading about this couple brought a smile to my face. Excellent.

EXCERPT:

SABRINA

As I lay on the bed, wearing my ex-fiancé’s t-shirt and remembering the night he left me six months ago, I realize that tears are slipping silently down my cheeks.

I’ve done reasonably well, too. The first week, I was catatonic. The first month, I was practically a zombie. In those days, even showering on my day off had been a challenge. Within a couple of months, though, I was doing better. By the ninety-day mark, I could be mistaken for someone who hadn’t been virtually left at the altar.

Now, lying on the bed six months after Grant had thrown away our life together, I was almost indiscernible from a normal girl. Looking at me most days, you would never know that my life had been ripped apart by an exotic Olympian named Isabel and my former fiancé, Grant.

I sit up, realizing how far I’d come since that night. I put the back of my hand up to one cheek, then the other. No more. That asshole doesn’t get another single tear from me. Control-G-Delete.

Author Bio:

Jennifer Woodhull is based in the Southern United States, spending time in her second home of England, and traveling as often as she can. Her love of travel permeates her work, and her characters often find themselves exploring new and foreign surroundings.

A keen observer of human behavior, Jennifer often draws inspiration from something as simple as a fleeting connection, or the glimpse of a unique trait or characteristic. Her favorite place to write is on airplanes.

“The drone of the engine, the scores of people, all traveling to something or from something, and being disconnected from digital distractions are a combination that provide the perfect place to write,” she says. “If you see a woman in seat 9F who is balancing her Macbook on her lap because it’s time to close your tray table, please have patience. I’m just trying to finish one more sentence.”
