A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Feyre Archeron made a promise to her mother to provide for her family when she passed. With two sisters and an crippled father it is a heady task especially since the land is sparse with food options. Luck may have been on her side the day she captured a doe but it also brought a wolf which she had no choice but to kill.

Since birth Feyre has been told about the treachery of the fae, they are not to be trusted. Even with a treaty in place the Fae live in their magical land and the humans in theirs. That being said Feyre must pay for her actions and when a creature arrives to claim his vengeance because Feyre broke that treaty, he offers her two options. Immediate death or she lives on his land forever and after. Feyre agrees but life in Tamlin’s kingdom is not what she expected.

Feyre begins to realize that there are more to the fae then the rumors that spread over time. Feyre finds herself beginning to care for those who protect her, but the fighter in her has her wanting to protect Tamlin, but at what cost?

This was amazing. I had it on my list for awhile and I am so glad I finally picked this up. The story is a mix of Beauty and The Beast/ Phantom of the Opera / Game of Thrones. It is rich in substance and as you read the story the visual descriptions make you feel like you are a part of the story. Truly wonderful.
