I thought the narration on this one was quite good. I liked the narrator and his husky voice.

The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1)The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cormoran Strike is a PI who lost his leg in the Afghanistan war. He has demons that he often chases down with alcohol John Bristow shows up in his office wanting Strike to investigate the death of model Lula Landry, his adopted sister. Although Lulu’s death was ruled a suicide and Strike doubts there is anything to investigate he agrees. Robin Ellacott shows up as his temp and although Strike really doesn’t have the money to pay her she makes a big impact on the investigation. As his investigation begins to reveal what happened before her death Strike begins to uncover a haunting similarity to another death.

I liked this but i found a lot of the characters reminded me of characters in the Harry Potter books. Strike was fascinating, a good character. I vacillated between a 3 and 4 on this one. I thought at times the book dragged a bit but overall how it ended was a surprise.
