Kyle Sommerville is hiding in a small town in Maine as a lighthouse groundskeeper. His plan is to stay under the radar until the trial happens that will give him back his life, or at least a part of it. What Kyle didn’t expect was is determined neighbor who rambles movie quotes and doesn’t seem to understand the word no.
Kyle tries to stay away as he knows he is a tarnished soul to Jane’s sweet and innocent charm. Jane though seems to find every loophole to spend time with Kyle and he can only resist so much. Kyle makes Jane understand whatever they have will end, he is leaving but Jane hopes to change his mind. Of course she doesn’t know anything about Kyle’s past and when it comes knocking at her door, she doesn’t know who to trust.
There is a lot to this story, I mentioned a few of the highlights but loved Jane she is quirky and you can’t help smile every time she interacts with Kyle. I don’t envy Kyle, he did what he had to do but you sense he holds a lot of shame and guilt about it. Stand out book for Sawyer Bennett, one of my favorites.
