Charlie Sykes is what others would call an odd duck, to her it logically doesn’t make sense as she has no feathers. Charlie takes everything literally, she analyzes and spends a lot of time in her head making a well thought out decision. When she is hired by hotelier Jace Knight, she is well aware of his reputation with his employees. As Charlie does with every aspect of her life, she lays it out why she is certain they would not work well together. For the first time in his life Jace is completely intrigued by a woman and the more he gets to know her the more bewitched he is.

However not everything is going as it seems, Charlie finds herself involved in a game of deception. Jace is asking for her trust, but Charlie is torn in several directions and is struggling to do what is right.

Holy moly this was an intense and very seductive read. You are pulled in by Charlie immediately, at first I was not certain I would like the story as it is very descriptive in the beginning with Charlie’s thoughts but it works. She can make you feel awkward in her thoughts and has a few cringe worthy moments, but you love her as a character. Jace is a hard but fascinating character. High praise can’t wait to read more from this author.
